I have some misgivings about starting this thread but my curiosity overwhelms them.

We all grew up in an era of standardized testing - how did you do?

Not looking to make this about feeling any shame or being braggadocious. But I would love to hear any stories about standardized testing and you.

Hated school, kicked out twice. Always had high test scores though. Took my HSED at a technical college and scored in the top 10% of the nation range.

I scored in the 99th percentile in everything except math, which I landed in the 97th percentile.

I always did fairly well. Good enough to test out when I was 16. School wasnt for me, and I was getting ready to have a child. Needed to work:)

Could never crack the 90s in verbal. Considered it a weak spot for years. My grammar is a bit weak, never a language savant. But still.... I think the tests are a bit ..... Limited.

Cant wait for Minnesmoker to check in.

lowest 10%. i had to test twice. i tried very hard to come in dead last. i already knew i was accepted to art school so i spent my time making little designs on the answer card.

the 99th percentile has been home to me. This confirms my suspicions that some really fkt-up critters can soar the elitosphere. ~waves~

hated school.... I ended up having to go to summer school after I missed way too many am classes (civics and econ)passed in summer school with my regular HS diploma.. went on to a few years of night college at a local JR College.. took some writing classes -art- criminal justice.. and got bored.. moved on to a local adult school that had some accounting classes met wifey there.. got married.. never did anything with accounting other then my 15 years of debt collections..

no diploma other then my HS one..
Made more $$ in collections then My all my family who went to school got a BS or other degree and moved on..

I dont ever recall taking the SATs or any other test other then the MEPS testing for the Air Force.

I never get a good response when I say I'm one of the smartest people in the room and the reason why I don't have alot of friends is because I only hang out with people smarter than me.

So I'm going to say I don't do real good on dem tests and that math is like totally useless. That way I have lots of friends to talk with about how much a genius Kanye is and how cool Drake its, Yolo!

I don't want to brag or anything but when I graduated, after the ceremony I was invited to stay after by the principals and clean up the chairs and tables. They told me it was to finish off my suspensions in order to graduate but I know it was really because my intellect dazzled them. So yeah, you could say I was pretty awesome at filling in circles.

90's on standardized tests in grade school. 1370 on my SAT's. that was the only reason i got into college. i was an average student in high school. wasn't interesting at all to me. did a lot better in college though once i found out what i was interested in. hated grad school. did just enough to get by. probably cause i was working 50 hour weeks and taking school at night. company "made" me do it.

don't use a single thing i learned in my current profession. lol.

2 bachelor's in finance and african american history. the second was something that always interested me as part of my heritage. i had taken a bunch of classes in it already so after i got my finance degree i stayed for another year to get the history degree. i only needed another 8 classes and they were basically independent studies. travelled a little and followed dave matthews band around mostly while reading a ton of books and getting really high for a year. handed all my papers in via email. my parents said they would pay for my education as long as i was in school and got good grades. took full advantage of it. :bigjoint:

got an mba while working in nyc. night school. worst 2 years of my life. work from 7am to 4:30pm. school from 5:30pm to 9:30pm 5 days a week. one class on saturday morning and then to the office for 4-8 hours. absolutely miserable.

i am a real estate developer now. high end spec homes and some long term investment properties. mostly in central america. a few in the u.s. didn't speak a word of spanish when i arrived in costa rica to live full time. didn't know anything about construction, electricity, plumbing, etc...just learned on the fly.

been a hell of a ride!

We selected for a certain feature of ourselves because we traded heaven for it. We are the great brained ones, the tool makers. But now we need to temper the quest for the best tools with compassion and kindness. Smart isn't as important as it once was. Silicon may help lift some of that burden from us and those of us, those outliers admired and feared, can finally be left alone in peace or pieces or something.
