I'm out of work and have no income at the moment, living off savings. Ive been on the fence about getting my MMJ card here in Mass since its gone legal. I have one of the main listed qualifying conditions, but without knowing if i can grow permanently, which is the main incentive for me to get it, i don't think its really worth it. I figure i can grow my own meds for the year for less than it would cost me to buy meds for 4-5 months. The cost only goes down with each successive grow since the equipment is already purchased. Right now, for all intents and purpose, the only thing i can't do legally is grow and posses more than an OZ. I've also talked to some Mass MMJ card holders who would be interested in a "CO-OP" type situation because of the great cost savings potential., but again, on a personal level, not wanting to register as a dispensary.
If i get a card and start growing, then they do away with my hardship license, most likely since i live in an area that will have dispensaries nearby, do i eat the cost of my grow setup? Ill be forced, legally, to go to a dispensary and still pay prices that are totally unreasonable. Right now, if I'm thinking this through correctly, worst case scenario is i get my meds confiscated?
Pros:
legality/ stress reduction
temporary legal growing
higher personal limit
Cons:
cost/savings ratio
possible future restrictions on producing own meds
yearly? renewals
being on (another) governmental registry
What your thoughts?
