The wind is hard out sometimes but the cages protect it a little. the end of flowering is stressful with high winds that can knick your buds over.

Those furry things destroyed my plant last year. hundreds of them crawling up the stalks. 6ft is a good height before flowering.
It looks like you pick some good spots cooper

Yeah it comes from the Mulanje area in Malawi - quite similar to the ones I'm growing now. Yeah I grow Landrace strains mostly so it's easier to distinguish between them, thailand, colombia, mexico etc. I hope we get some hotter weather soon, that rain yesterday was good.

The Plants should at least triple in height.

Hey guys! Everyone's plants are looking stella :bigjoint: CK those malawi have grown heaps they look bushy as. Good stuff. Hows the weather been up there? I know that theirs a storm with high winds headed from the north or something?

Went and checked mine out today and its looking good. Its getting bushier and the growth is solid but yea the weather hasn't been the best this summer I think. Still had good temps last week though.
Had a little bit of aphid attack so I neemed it awhile ago and neemed it again today and its looking alot better. Id say if I hadn't have topped this plant it would be about 6 or 7 foot now lol Much better topped though.

I noticed a couple of the leaves towards the bottom were looking yellowy and yuck so I just pulled them of. Anyone know why it might be like this? Is it a deficiency or burn or anything? Im giving it blood and bone fertilizer once a week. NPK 8.3.6.
Also a little rusty looking bit on one of the leaves dont think i should be worried though? Ill chuck some pictures up so you guys can see ;-) Other than that the plants looking great! I reckon it will flower its male or female flowers soon maybe by the end of this month or the start of next month it will be doing its thing lol

Heres some pictures of the plant:

And the yellowy leaves and slight rust:

Hey man your plant's looking healthy as, that neem must be good for it. Don't worry about those yellow leaves that don't get any light, just take them off and any other bottom stuff that doesn't get light. You're growing in a forest ay? most of the time you only get top light in forests because the trees usually block out any diagonal lighting.

Your plant looks similar to my panamas, same structure and height I think by the looks of it. I've had that rust on my afghans last year, nothing to worry about.
see any hairs yet?. most indicas usually start showing hairs by now.

It's been like march weather lately up here, clear days but on/off sunshine throughout the day. solid wind to strengthen the stems. 22-25/6 temps with high overnight temps.
It will be a switch of nutrients soon - as soon as you see any hairs stop feeding it veg nutes - I might even start feeding mine with flower nutrients before they show hairs.

There's so many bugs around - they're on everything.

Does anyone know when buds die off? are there still aphids and what not around at the end of april?. I hate those passion fruit hoppers on my plants leaving behind that waxy shit.

this guy i saw on youtube from auckland had a plant he was growing in the bush, at this time its still only 1 foot tall although it was started in october because the seeds were ordered from the internet and not acclimatized to NZ, and started off directly outdoors from seed. they are growing steadily tho what can he expect to harvest ? the guy also started a nz climate strain 2 weeks ago its now a seedling what can he expect to harvest from that? i know this is a broad question but just estimates and how long they will take to finish, good grow bro gl

Hmm 1 ft from october? sounds weird to me - all quality seeds are ordered off the internet, Auckland can grow almost anything apart from long flower equatorial sativas. Must be his growing conditions or it's revegging from early preflowers. It completely depends on the genetics man, every single strain is different with varying finish time, yield, high etc. I say wait til the leaves start turning yellow before thinking about harvest. If its NZ aclimated then it shouldn't go past mid april.

Matt420 - I reckon the Cotton Candy from Delicious, it stretches crazy and has nice long dense sativa colas. purple trainwreck and silver kush might be alright but ive never grown them

Cooper - Yeah na I've had them before and remember that they don't die off but tht was a middle of march harvest. The Malawis will be harvested at the beginning of may(approx), I wonder if they live til then? it gets coldish by middle of may.

@ letstrip. everything is looking wicked man. your grow is going to be out of control come flower
Cheers aus your indoors is looking wack!

well another blow damn it, high winds all week and I was horrified to find my biggest baby (just over 6 ft) bent in half on the ground, stalks all split but thankfully it will live, made a bit of a makeshift splint and propped it up and tied to nearby tree, might tie it to a waratah on the weekend. will try get some pics for you guys too, end up going on spur of the moment visits lol so been a bit unprepared.
Hows your broken plant going man? Reckon itl be algood now, mine broke awhile back and I saved it using electrical tape and a splint lol

Cheers mate. The neem is good shit I reckon. Being natural its like nature on nature haha Also I think it was Chonikool that was telling me in PM that the neem is also a good source of N for the plant when you spray it on like foiler feed and to put the left over spray into the ground around the plant. I reckon hes right it actually does green the foliage up a bit. Algood nothing to worry about with the yellow leaves then. Yea in a willowy type swampy forest. But yea I think it gets mostly top sun and some side sun. Its noticeable which side gets more sun becasue its more bushy and the stems and infact the whole plant leans that way.

It does look quite similar to your panamas in shape and height. I think your right in how you said in a previous post "It's funny how all of our plants are around the same height" lol

Same with the weather here its up and down and all over the place. Some good days coming up but this summer so far hasn't been up to its full potential i reckon. Same down here with the on and of sun throughout the day with 20 - 23 temps. My plants got no hairs or balls or anything yet so I dunno ae. I might go up tomorrow for a look so Ill check it out while im there.

Those passion fruit hoppers suck bro. They're not as bad down here I think they prefer up were its a little warmer. Bugs are defiantly in full force though ive seen heaps around I reckon thyell diminish as we move closer to april because itl start to get a little cooler.

Yeah mate, what brand of neem are you using? mines the oakdale organics one and has all the bio safety stuff in it so its pretty safe. I think Chronikool is right, my plants are looking a lot greener after that last spray. I drenched my plants in neem today and fly sprayed all the bugs off the stems - so many breeding and living at the bottom of the plants that I had to do something about it, the malawis have a bit more pest resistance than the panamas, bro you should of seen how many bugs flying away when I was spraying the bottom of the plants. Take some odourless flyspray next time if there's heaps of bugs, they instantly fly away and if you neem after the flyspray less come back.

How tall is your plant now? most of mine are 5ft or just under. still 3 weeks left and they've only been vegging for a month and a half, I tipped the Panamas though to bush them out and keep the height down - sativas grow hard out in height during flower.

I've been liking this weather up here, subtropical as ever. nice cool summer with 25 degree days, I reckon 23-25 are the best temps for vegging here in BOP. perfect day today(25), we're not getting night time temps below 13 - around 14-18 on average. any temps below 9 or 10 start to slow the plant down I reckon.

Yeah well most of the plants will go into late april or early may depending on the weather, hopefully they die before the plants finish.
we still only get 10-13 night temps in april though so not really that cold then.

Yeah it sucks that the more subtropical parts of NZ get lots of those passion fruit hoppers, I remember Auckland had heaps too.

The Malawis are looking awesome and are about 5 ft tall or so. Sprayed with organic neem today. They're starting to fill out the cage.
1.5 months veg with 3 or more veg weeks left, how tall do you guys reckon they will get before flowering?.

The Taskenti has been in the ground for 2 week, looking a lot better since the neem aplication. Oakdale Organics neem oil kicks ass, highly recommend to all guerilla growers.
This plant is shaded a little but from some tall plants but there's still solid grow and it's only a seed baring plant anyways.
[/IMG]

The Panamas had quite a few aphids and passion fruit hoppers, Had to fly spray and neem oil the shit out of them! I want them gone.
The leaves are starting to thin out more now, I can tell it's going to be potent as anything.
[/IMG]
[/IMG]

I topped the 2 tallest ones out the front, Don't wanting these ending up 15 feet tall! not good when there's helicopters and planes flying over. They need lots of support once they grow tall and at the end the buds are a nightmare.

Cheers guys, tell me what you think and any advice would be awesome  happy growing to all the kiwi brothers. I say bring on flowering!

Those are some nice looking plants man.

Take some more pics of the Panama's big ass fan leaves and post em' when you get a chance. I love the way the sativa fan leaves look when they're grown outdoors "naturally".

Cheers dude.

The 5th pic is an upper Panama fan leaf, I'll try to remember to take a pic of the biigest one
I know what you mean man, nothing can beat old school sativa strains grown outdoors. Probably wont visit them for awhile as there's nothing I can do and don't want to leaves massive tracks in there. come on red pheno!

Ah you bloody kiwis with all your awesome outdoor plants. You have forced me to start a couple of late outdoor plants.

I put a northern lights, sugartown express, dream lotus, daybreaker and a lemon diesel x mendo montage 4* .

I need a name for the lemon diesel x mendo montage cross? Any ideas. She is short indica dom and frosty as hell with a powerful grapefruit smell and ko stone
