I like the idea of food aide to any and all that needs it,just as long as we can afford it. I'm pretty sure the jews were not in need of $84 billion worth of food.
What have they done inturn?
What makes this a good friendship for america?(that is so costly in more then one way)

I do not like foriegn aid in general. But, there are 23 countries in the middle east. Only one country is always our friend.

Isreal.

There are many countries in the middle east tha are very freindly to the U.S

E.G Jordan

and the things done by Isrealis arent really covered by the military

E.G

Two Israeli Rabbis plotting to blow up a mosque in Florida and and Israeli- American recently arrested by the U.S for spying and espionage.

keep in mind there are 23 countries like you said.

22 are lumped together as one unit even though they are different

so 22 verse one. who do you think is gonna be more prominent in the media?

OK, I have done a lot of research regarding Israel. I've studied it primarily from the fall of the Ottoman Empire after WWI to date. I've read many sources, viewed many documentaries. Even Leon Uris' book "Exodus" is a good read regarding the creation of Israel after WWII. I have a lot of admiration for the Israelis and still feel that they won the Gaza Strip, West Bank, and Golan Heights "fair and square". The 6 Day War in 1967 was precipitated by the surrounding nations threat to "drive Israel into the Sea" and they got their collective asses handed to them by a little country w/ no air force.

That being said, I do not support aid to Israel for a number of reasons. First, they don't need it. They have a thriving economy that includes many Hi Tech companies. Secondly, our aid (both funds and military) go to perpetuate a conflict that is seemingly endless. Truce after truce after truce is put on the table and violated. It's a fruitless endeavor. And lastly....

WE AID BOTH SIDES!

We are helping to perpetuate a conflict in the Middle East by arming (either directly or indirectly) both sides to keep the region destabilized. We provide aid to Israel, Egypt (who has worked w/ North Korea to develop ballistic missiles), Pre 9/11 Afghanistan (Taliban), Jordan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia (home of Wahabi-Fascism), and even the Palestinian Liberation Organization (Yassar Arafat was a terrorist of the highest order).

I do not support aid for Israel any more than I support any aid to these other Middle Eastern countries as our aid is simply contributing to an endless conflict that kills people.

Two frank realities are these: Aid comes in many forms. And secondly, throughout most of the world, especially the Middle East, you must buy your friends. Having above average relations with Israel gives us a safe harbor when the rest of the region is hostile.

I personally believe the best form of foreign aid is a good trading partner. The US and Israel need to expand markets in each other's back yards. If the balance of trade is about even, our influence is strong. So then, we benefit from their HUMIT (human intelligence sources) and other resources.

You should be commended for keeping an open mind and being willing to change your views after garnering all of the facts.
Dave is good that way. He is very credible for that reason alone.

You should be commended, too, trishmybisquits. Unfortunately, I apparently must spread the +rep around.

By saying Israel "won" fair and square" you open up the door and justify using war and violence to gain territory whenever a country wishes. Just because they won does that justify displacing the Palestenians the way they have?

I wish you guys could see they way they are treated over there, its insane, and sad. and dont for a second think its just the Muslims over there that are rubbing shoulders with Israel, the Jews there feel the same away about the Christians that they do about the Muslims.

And no, dont think there is some new propoganda war against Israel. The Israeli media is more critical of the Israeli government then the American media is. Go read the Jeruselum post. One of my Israeli freinds had his best freind (jewish) killed by the Israeli police when he formed a human chain to protest bludozing of Palestenian farms. it was a "stray" bullet

*excuse the spelling errors

Israel didn't pick the fight. Far different from when the United States went to war w/Mexico to wrest ownership of the Southwest in the name of Manifest Destiny. War is necessary sometimes....especially when all surrounding countries are amassing troops, artillery, and mechanized infantry right on your border (as was the case in 1967 for Israel). I might also add that Israel pleaded w/ Jordan (whose territory included the West Bank) to stay out of the impending conflict as they, the Israelis, did not want to fight on multiple fronts. They also did not want to deal w/ any Palestinian population issues on the West Bank. Jordan went ahead anyway and joined in the hoopla to destroy Israel.

I don't believe I made any mention of the treatment of the Palestinians in my posts as I do not condone the behavior of either side and I believe you may be jumping to conclusions.

Isreal fought that war in the name of Zionism, which is a more racist ideology than manifest destiny is

Some wonderful highlights of that article

"Baron and Baroness Phillipi de Rothschild in a joint venture with Robert Mondavi, begin the construction of a pyramid in Napa Valley, California, where the leader/founder of the Church Of Satan, Ashkenazi Jew, Anton LaVey, was based. This is known as Opus 1 (which means, the first work), and the front for this temple is that it is a winery."

"They also will use the attacks to gain control of the few nations in the world who don’t allow Rothschild central banks and so less than one month after these attacks, US forces attack Afghanistan, one of only 7 nations in the world who don’t have a Rothschild controlled central bank."

"Less than a week before the 9-11 attack on 5 September, the so-called lead hijacker Mohamed Atta and several other hijackers made a still-unexplained visit onboard one of Pro Israeli lobbyist, Ashkenazi Jew, Jack Abramoff’s casino boats."

2002: Webster's Third New International Dictionary (Unabridged), re-printed in 2002, provides a new definition of Anti Semitism which has not been updated since 1956. It reads,
"Anti-Semitism: (1) hostility toward Jews as a religious or racial minority group, often accompanied by social, political or economic discrimination (2) opposition to Zionism (3) sympathy for the opponents of Israel."

I wanted to check on this allegation......it takes me 2 seconds and here is what I found anti-Semitism - Definition from the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary

You know whenever you trying to have substantial debate on Israeli/ U.S relations anti-semitic conspircy theorists always show up.:spew: Its kinda funny how all conspircy theories ends to leading to anti-semitism..................but I wont address these "theories" anymore because I don't want to detract us from this substantive discussion of U.S foreign policy towards Israel

"Fuck the Jews, fuck the jews, fuck the jews." But we shouldn't, neigh, can't, say nigger. What happened to equality of outcomes? "We love everybody, because we care, and are compassionate people."??? Yeah, you guys got your heads screwed on straight.

I have no love for Israel, only respect. No, fuck that, I love Israel. Freedom should be embraced. And as for Israels oppression, how many other countries support the Palestinians, how many ARAB countries. Why does Jordan even maintain its' border? Egypt? And yet, when Israel withholds gas and food, the people are left immobile and hungry. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.
