The Lost Art of Foliar Feeding

I've foliar fed my first plant and I gotta say, it works. PIC_0036.jpgPIC_0002 (2).jpgPIC_0001.jpgPIC_0025.jpg I've foliar fed her from start to finish. No nutes though! Got a bad case of chem. burn when combined with the lights. My top is about 7" tall and probably 2-3" wide! Not to mention the trichome quantity. I'm experimenting with my next grow already. I'm NOT foliar feeding my Blue Dream but AM foliar feeding my White Widow and Spce Bomb clones.

Wat does that mean you've foliar fed but no nutes?

So all you did was water then, not foliar feed. lol

Can anyone recomend a good General Hydroponics Flora blend for foliar feeding? I am using GH Flora Grow/Micro/Bloom on my ladies and just entered the transition to flower off the chart this week, been flowering for 7 days now and would like to give foliar feeding a short try before buds start producing. Any tips for this line up? Thanks!

Complete Three full 9 weeks bloom grows with Bubba kush BC brand. Easy to grow, very well liked, premium quality. Very low producer. As a very experienced grower(35 years)
Tried everything to improve yield however time to move on to a top producer. One 1000 w light 1 lbs=poor 1 1/2 lbs=avg 2 lbs= very good. Comments or suggestions???

Tried foliar feeding the last two grows. Sprayed under leaves very lightly each morning as lights went on for first 4 weeks of bloom. Nice growth, very healthy.
Formula: Wetting agent, canna boost , few drops of growth plus, b1, green up. More or less as on page 54,55 spray rate.

Results. No improvement in yield at all. Comments ?????

What's going on spl1? Hope all is well in your part of the world.

I am still a HUGE fan of foliar feeding. Although, now I run my system with organics so I only foliar feed with fish ferts and teas. The miracle gro is not bad. It worked very well as a matter of fact. I just choose to grow organic now. This thread is still epic imo. You're thread is what made me FULLY commit to foliar feeding. People would think your plants would fry if you foliar feed at full strength everyday with mg. Well it doesn't fry them. Just makes them huge, strong, and healthy. Shit, I even foliar fed 1 1/2 the dose of mg and i just got slightly burnt leaf tips. Didn't seem to bother the plants much. The key is to work your way up to the high dose. Just like us smoking weed, the plant builds a "tolerance" for the nutes.

Keep it lit bro. Just thought I would drop something on this thread for the foliar feeding newbs.

i'm a newbie to growing my herb, and to use really, other than a few times as a teen and young adult never smoked it. and i have to say, for a newbie to come here and read the hurling of insults.... especially when asking a question and needing info, possibly to grow for a legit medicinal need or simply to ensure safe and useful supply..... to be insulted over spelling or called a retard? for all anyone knows someone here has a learning disability or speaks english as a second language. the ripping drives me nuts.
i hurt my plants. i'm a very experienced gardener including indoor gardening of many vegetables and flowers, even many difficult ones, but i hurt my mj plants. i came here to try to figure out a good foliage spray while my roots heal from what i did to them, i have saved plants this way before so since i've flushed my babies i don't want to put a thing in the soil while it's still quite moist. would love to detail soil mix, what nutrients i tried, what happened, and what i've done to correct so far if someone can help me while not bashing me for insisting on using the organically approved stuff i have and foliar feeding, since i know it works when burns happened from years of experience with many other plant species. if someone's still watching and can help me help my plants recover, please post and i'll detail what they have been through so far. just wanna know if anyone's listening here before i write er up :D
Peace

also, i avoid chemical fertilizers mostly due to MCS i have a stock on hand of nutes i can use that cover all bases however. just need to know where to go with the poor things now.

Am surprised you got any visible symptoms with the Mg.. Mg tox is quite rare, and isn't at all known for showing symptoms visually most of the time... good show though, hopefully it recovered quickly.

I was reading up on this thread about teas and foiler feeding and after sorting through all the BS fighting,
here are the most important parts and products from this thread this is what I have found out.

Dutch masters Gold Range Saturator (wetting agent and transfer into leaf surface) A Surfactant.
Dutch Masters Liquid Light (for carbo's) Does this help carbo load in flower?
Halo or Messenger (harpin protein) Claimes to end Powdery Mildew and something else.
Pro tekt- Immunity and plant damage repair product.
Calcarb Need to research more what it does.
Compost tea (second method in DWC thread) Compare both and price point.
Silica- Supposed to help the cell walls and the plants ability to handle heat stress and bending branches without breaking. (Cyco Silica -good stuff and Potassium Silicate)
Nitrozyme- seaweed Nitrogen.
Mycogrow soluble ($6 an oz from fungi.com + shipping)

Wanted to try and get some good feed back about these items for an easy reference point for everyone. Please comment only on the products if you have experience with them, know what they do or how they work or you know of a less expensive option that does the same thing.
Thank's for your help in advance.

I do have one question about adding a funguscide to a tea mixture for foiler feeding. Anyone know Can this be done or would it kill any fungi that might be in the tea? Want to add Actinovate to tea with silica as a foiler feeder on plants in flower to prevent any Powdery mildew late into flower. Week 4 flower. (Want to repair damage to leafs from lite damage from Thrips or mites and to prevent the leaf surface from developing any more PM due to the damage from the now dead pests) This late in flower I want to make sure the next 4-6 weeks are PM free and the plants have the best chance to do their best free of problems. Foiler feeding 2 last times is probable the best way to accomplish this. Don't want to have to nuke them in week 7-8-9 if PM shows up again. It could ruin everything so I want to be proactive.

So I got some good feedback at a store near me on some of these items.

Dutch masters Gold Range Saturator (wetting agent and transfer into leaf surface) A Surfactant. Protrans Technology
Dutch Masters Liquid Light (for carbo's) minerals, carbohydrates, amino-acids and phyto-nutrients.
Halo or Messenger (harpin protein) Claimes to end Powdery Mildew and allow nutrients to work better.
Cyco Silica -good stuff (Potassium Silicate). cell walls, plants ability to handle heat stress, bending branches without breaking, increases chlorophyll in leaves.
Pro tekt- Silica (This is not as good as cyco product.)
Calcarb- CO2 foiler spray
Nitrozyme- seaweed Nitrogen

Still need to find out a little about the different Compost teas. I'll look at this (second method in DWC thread) Compare both and price point.
And what Fungi.com has to offer. Mycogrow soluble ($6 an oz from fungi.com + shipping)
Hope that helps.

Tween20 is the base of most wetting agents.
Dutch masters Gold Range Saturator (wetting agent and transfer into leaf surface) A Surfactant.
Protrans Technology

Microlife Hydroponics has a good product at a much lower price.
Dutch Masters Liquid Light (for carbo's) minerals, carbohydrates, amino-acids and phyto-nutrients.

This products stress the plants to produce enzymes to help defend the plant. This product works best if you do not have health plant. If you have healthy plants it does not work as well or not at all.
Halo or Messenger (harpin protein) Claimes to end Powdery Mildew and allow nutrients to work better.

The best silica on the market? That is a tough one. I have used a lot of silicate products on the market and after 20 years I still use pro tek as the base to judge any silica products.
Cyco Silica -good stuff (Potassium Silicate). cell walls, plants ability to handle heat stress, bending branches without breaking, increases chlorophyll in leaves.

After 20+ years Dyna Gro's Pro Tek is the standard to judge silica in my gardens.
Pro tekt- Silica (This is not as good as cyco product.)

I have never used this product, so I can't give a comment about it.
Calcarb- CO2 foiler spray

This product claims to have large amounts of enzymes from the seaweed extraction method they use. It seems to work, not claiming it is any better or worse then any other brands.
Nitrozyme- seaweed Nitrogen

I was searching for information about Cyco and came across your post. I saw that one unique thing that is in the Cyco silica is the monosilicic acid which is 100% available to the plants. What have you noticed from using it?

I do foliar feed my plants as needed because it works fast. Usually to green up plants or correct deficiencies. But, my mothers I always rinse a couple times with pure h20 prior to taking cuts. The residue, dust, and oils build up and clog the stomata. A good rinse will make leaves happy and soft, ready to cut.

Foliar feeding with a compost tea is probally the best way to feed plants and also protect them from insects and disease...make a tea with some EWC..ancient forest..kelp..alfalpha meal..and some Neptune fish/seaweed fert...brew it for about 24-36 hours...strain it...spray plants getting undersides also...my outdoor plants I like to spray just before sunset so they intake it at night with no sun to dry it fast...this stuff works better than any bottle stuff you get in a store...if you dont want to make to much get a 2 gallon plastic bucket at lowes and a package of paint strainer bags...or use some new panty hose...fill with ingrediants i said..bubble it..whats ever leftover dump in the soil...

just before flower time I get Neptune crab meal..run it in a blender to get it very fine..add that to the mix...you get the chitosan from it in the teas..works as a trigger for plants defense and makes plant produce more oils..sorta work as a harpin protien...

Snow storm is made from alfalpha meal..kelp ..and chitosan...

oh I forgot..I add molasses after 24 hours of brewing for the micro herd feed...
