Devestated- Last 2.5 Months growing Bagseed, ALL MALES

Man, I don't think I'll ever grow bagseed (much less any non-feminized seed) again. This feels really shitty- all the time and money spent for nothing. 4 plants, and all 4 are males. I can't fucking believe it. HOW DO YOU GUYS HANDLE THIS?!?!

Sorry to hear dude. That's why I buy feminized. Improves you odds greatly. Don't get too discouraged..lessoned learned. Lol

Are you germinating in temps above 80 degrees? Germ in low 70s to get more females.

Stick to clones and save yourself the frustration. If you can't get clones, I know it sucks but just keep growing and find a mother plant for yourself to clone from. Really sorry to hear about that.

I agree with bugeye but it can happen regardless. You can nudge a plant toward female but some plants are just born to be male.
Had similar luck on a grow in college, it sucks. Sorry for your bad luck.

Thanks for listing one of the reasons NOT to grow bag seed.

I buy my new strains in seed to KNOW what I'm getting and what to expect. I like straight run seeds and I've never gotten more male's then female's in them.....Feminized are always just that,,,,,but I get more "stable" females from strain run (less herming). That's an opinion.

Stolen,
Just a little hint that could have saved you some time...and might help in the future. As soon as a plant gets big enough to take a cutting off of...do so and then place the cutting into 12/12 light. It's called "cloning for gender" and will allow you to identify the plant gender much earlier.

Yeah good advice Fir3.

You have to plant more seeds to get the females you need for your grow.

I have limited grow space 2' x 3' and I can't afford to have any males taking up space.

I buy all feminized seeds to max my time and effort.

Mother Nature can be a real bitch, time of the month maybe?

Feel your pain bro, better luck next time.

in that pot could be making it stress out too.
but if your just gonna do one. buy feminized seeds. Or yu could do more sog style that way your are guaranteed at least a couple fems and if you get too many you can just kill the ''slackers''. maybe solo cups straight 12-12?

Really??? I didn't know that :cuss:I've never had a male, but I germ at 78F to 85F...I've heard this before and I've looked for it at other places (not just get high sites) and they say this is a MYTH...if you're trying to manipulate a bean to be female and it's actually a male, you are looking for trouble...you may end up making a hermie ...JMO...

Like everything else, there are two schools of thought (or more), just another one of those "fact or fiction" debates
Some say the gender is pre-determined in the DNA, it is what it is, then others say the environment can induce or increase the odds of it becoming male or female.
Dr. Jekyll

We all know the environment and/or stress can turn a female into becoming hermie, so who knows if it could change a female into male but we tend to think not.
You can stress the hell out a fem seedling and it may become hermie but very seldom do they become male (assuming the breeder is decent)

Yeah well Doc, you know my stance on hermies :spew:it's n00b error, not a hermie  and like I said in my other post with the chart (I love charts ) those beans with the round indented sockets are the ones I pick...and Bakatare turned me on to that little bit of info, so I give him credit on that 1...and wassup Hyde :-P

The environment does have an impact on the gender of a seedling according to some studies. You definitely didn't have your nutrients dialed in.
Those plants are overfed and they're all in the same pot. A healthy plant should have soft, moist green leaves; yours are probably paper dry
and dark green. This stress could have played a part in the plants gender.

It's all part of the learning experience. I decided to give all my clones away that were growing in coco so i could start fresh from seed with two DWC
buckets. I spent the last 2 months battling root rot. Last week i finally gave up and cut half the roots off and transplanted to soil and started a few
more seeds. Now my brother is enjoying the smoke from those clones while i'm completely dry. Today is day 1 of not having anything to smoke and i'm
miserable.

Lesson learned, at least now i know about beneficial bacteria and proper rez cleaning. Next time there will be no problems.
