Pain relief: High CBD or a strong indica

I am stuck trying to decide between signing up with cannimed to get their high CBD strain, and Mettrum to get their indica strain.

What would you choose for chronic pain relief?

I would probably go with Mettrum for 2 reasons. First, indica strains are typically known for their pain-relieving qualities. Second, I like the options they advertise more. No real experience with either of them (currently registering with Bedrocan .. any thoughts?), but it seems that Mettrum also offers a high CBD strain, even though it is currently unavailable. If in the future you realize that an indica is not for you and want to try a strain with varying CBD levels, you would be able to. Cannimed only seems to offer one CBD strain to Mettrums three. Alot of times people have to trial and error before finding the strain best for themselves, which is why I would go with a wider selection if unsure.

I know it's a personal choice, but WHY are people signing up for the MMPR? The biggest weapon we have, next to John Conroy, is non-compliance. If everyone refuses to participate it gives merit to our claim that the MMPR will not work for the majority. I haven't looked into any LP's or their products as I don't intend to use them, but from reading your posts I'm not impressed. It may work as a source for those who can't grow their own or don't have access to a compassion club, but it is not an acceptable alternative to those of us without the financial means to access our medicine.

Cbd and thc work 2 different ways to alleviate pain..working on two different types of pain.. muscle and nervous respectively...so choose what you need
Also keep in mind many of the cannabinoids effects are biphasic..

Thats pretty much it for me. I need the meds and am not in a position to take a moral stand at the moment by going without.

New patients have no option but the MMPR. I didn't get my prescription until January. Going forward there will be many of us in the same boat. By the end of the year your MMAR will have expired. IF Conroy is able to get the courts to issue a stay it might help you. It probably won't help me. All a stay will do is put things on hold until a judge can order a trial. That can take up to 12 months (or more if the other side drags their feet). The trial itself and then waiting for the judge's written ruling could take another year or more. IF Conroy prevails, then Health Canada will have to rewrite the regulations. 12-24 months to rewrite, receive legal approval and publish in Canada Gazette before it can be enacted.

Hell, I could be buying the stuff in LCBO before this whole legal process is complete.

I had the choice's to wait 2 1/2 months for my medicine, or wait a couple weeks. I chose a couple weeks because I needed it asap. Plus, if I was caught growing and then sent to jail without any meds, I don't know what I would have done.

It looks like I will be going with Mettrum.

Why can't you just grow your own?

Correction - new patients have no legal option but the MMPR. But, you can go the non-compliance route and just grow your own!

what type of chronic pain do you suffer from? If I was you, I would wait and see what the courts bring and continue doing what ever it is you do now up until that time.

Abdominal pain from IBS, possibly crohns. I haven't been able to eat solid food for 3 years because the pain gets extremely bad when I do (no matter what I eat). I'm trying to find something that will numb my abdomen or at least take my mind off the pain (seems like it would be pretty hard though) so I can go back onto solids again.

And it's more of a severe irritation/burning vs cramping.

I was diagnosed with severe crohn's 4 years ago. I have been through all of the approved medications in Canada and have yet to find something that works. Biologics, immunomodulators, steroids, ect ect.. you name it. I still go through this same pain every day. I am a new MM patient and not in a position to grow my own, so I have been looking into Bedrocan's 'Bediol' (6.5% thc/8% CBD) strain. It was supposedly designed to be an anti-inflammatory and pain reliever in arthritis patients (many of the drugs used to treat arthritis are used for crohn's). They also offer 2 high THC strains to experiment with.

The Peace Naturals Project website also has a piece on treating Crohn's Disease with MM... so they may be familiar with the issue.

Dont mean to make your decision harder ... just food for thought.

No worries, I appreciate the reply. I already sent out the mettrum forms, but its good to know I have something else to fall back on. I guess this will be a learning experience for the both of us.

I am going to make thread for all my producer reviews. I have 2 more Peace Naturals strains that I am going to be trying over the next couple days and I will post my results along with my other strain reviews. :-P

edit: and I also bought a macro lens for my phone, so I will be uploading much better pics than the prev ones.
