First thing first nice set-up. I really dig the second book case, some James Bond shit...ok all most as cool.
You talked about the temp. problems you had in the earlier stages and that you had to use a air-conditioner. In the pics you have a duct that runs from the light to fan (exhaust), did you not have an intake to bring fresh air in the grow area?
Can you place a run down on the cost of the items that you have purchased for this project?

Thanks

I wouldn't use just any old algaecide.
The one I used was biocat, which is a product designed to reduce algae in hydroponics environments.

Thanks doz3r,
I have the same system and the same algae problem. I searched "algae" and came up with your thread. I didn't think you could use an algaecide because algae is plantlife. I figured the poison might kill the crop. Good to know it doesn't.

Sure thing!

Hardware:
I spent about $300 on the waterfarm 8 pack, $300 on the galaxy 600W digital ballast, $80 on the Hortilux 600W super HPS bulb, $80 on the sunmaster 600W Metal Halide bulb, $150 for the reflector, $300 for the 6' Charcoal Filter and vortex inline exhaust(449 CFM), and $40 for insulated ducting. Insulated ducting RULES because it muffles the sound of a shitload of air being moved through a very small space.
Total: ~$1250

Nutrients: I'm not sure about the individual per unit pricing on this, because the shop cut me a discount.
ADVANCED NUTRIENTS: Sensi grow A+B, Humic Acid, Fulvic Acid, SensiZym, Mother Earth Tea grow and bloom, Scorpion Juice, Piranha, Tarantula, Carboload, Connoisseur A+B, Overdrive, Liq Karma, B-52, Biocat, Final Phase, and Bug Be Gone
Total: ~$600

Construction: Rixson Pivot Hinge($170) other asst. materials: ($400)
15000BTU Air Conditioner($400).
Total: ~$970

In total, I've spent around $2820 in set up costs, but have enough nutes to get me through at least one more cycle. My wife and I use about 5 grams of medicine a week, so averaging $20/gm:
$100/wk=$400/mo
5gm/wk=20gm/mo

I'm ahead financially as soon as my system produces at least six ounces strictly for personal use.
160gm(5.7oz)
$3200

+rep?

So, proving %100 that everything went a little too well, My girls have decided they're done flowering at the very beginning of week seven flowering. I checked under my radioshack microscope just to be sure, but half amber, half cloudy trics are completely covering all the buds. It's time to harvest. The problem is, I didn't have sufficient time with the final phase. It can't be helped. I'm hoping a little fertilizer buildup wont be anything a good, long tender loving care style cure cant fix.

I'm having a mate over tonight, and my wife, my mate and I are going to indulge in a little hack, trim, and hang action.

Have any of you ever been forced to harvest prior to flushing? I've read literally hundreds of articles on the subject, and opinion seems to be mixed on the topic. Some growers swear by it, mostly "new school" types, and it seems the "old school" types seem to view flushing agents as a type of snake oil. I'm a little bit freaked out.

HMMMM...I bought something for water features (fancy name for pond),
says it doesn't effect plants or fish. Hope not, I put it in an hour ago. We'll see!

I wouldn't cut them down yet, the plants have more time if needed, try and be patient. One of the most important things is to flush.... three to five more days will not hurt your plants. Doing this will insure a greater and more satisfying smoke. Trust me, the first time I tried to rush things and the smoke was harsh. Flush Flush Flush, this will also be better for your body in the long run.

Good luck

P.S what about the temp ?

If you want to see the difference snip a smaller bud from the bottom, dry it out, do what you do, then write the results and let the rest flush for the next 3-5 days. You will not be sorry.

Yeah, I'd definitely say to flush for at least 3 days. Get the nutrients out of the reservoir ASAP and keep a close eye on the trichs. The longer you can flush the better. If it were me I'd run an accelerated schedule, start out with some Final Phase for a day or two, then pure water for as long as you can wait.

Sometimes, the plants tell you when it's time. Also notable: They're not very considerate of prior plans. Long story short, the girls were prime potency on Thursday, and we were going camping for the weekend. It had to be done. After work, We gave them the chop . As I mentioned, we were going camping with family, so on Thursday, after work, I had to harvest, manicure, and hang it all up, then prepare all the food for the trip. I was up until 2:30am and left to go camping at 5:00am. Everything looks and smells super kind! I vaporized the first nug to come off the plant in the volcano, and it was super potent already! I'm looking forward to some killer medicine.
(I ended up with around 4 grams of unfuckingbelievable bubble hash, but the herb's going to take a while to cure before I bother weighing it.)

For some reason I'm having trouble posting pics now. I'll upload the lot tomorrow.

Cheers till then.

Here they are, pictures of the chop, the resulting candy, and devastation.
I'll take some close-ups once everything has had a chance to cure properly.
Stay tuned..... Time to start thinking about my next grow. I'm very pleased with the results for my first go round. I've definitely learned some lessons, and I have some ideas on how to make my next grow insane!

What to grow......?
