Ha! I stayed up (again) last night til after 12:30 doing nothing but deleting spam. There were over 2 pages of nothing BUT spam, not one single legit post. Most, are nothing but bots. We have globals and admin in several time zones but these spammers are from China, Russia, India, etc so they are up when most of the globals and mods are sleeping. We do our very best to keep it free of spam but we've been getting hit HARD lately. Just keep on reporting the spammers.

SInce this thread is still up and I've been wondering about something. I don't know how all this spam bot shit works ( I can see it, but thats about it), but why is it that I never see it on GC at all?
I just wonder how one can get buried in it, and another doesnt seem to have issue with it.

We've been around a lot longer and are the largest and most well known for one reason. I have another *theory* and that is that a particular person that got banned from this site (several times) somehow put our site on some super spammers list, but that's just my personal suspicion. I know what a total asshole the guy was and how vindictive he was. The filter catches most of it and those posts are hidden.

idk, spammers are assholes don't get me wrong, but what i hate even more then spammers are the fucking dick heads, sorry for the language, but there is no other language for them, people who invent virus' and get computers all jacked up, and for what good reason?? to get a kick out of it? to laugh about it? i'd love to be locked in a room for a of these fucking dickheads for a few hours, the only virus they'd know from that point on wards was my fist in their face, and i'm not the violent type..

and like pp said, you'd be amazed at the small quantity of spam that actually makes it onto the boards.. these bots have a real knack of knowing when no one is online to ban them as well..

we're in the process of updating the servers tm open.. hopefully we'll be getting away from a v bulletin based site, which i think we are, but don't quote me on that.

This site is great but I don't think V-Bulletin ever updates their software, like Racerboy said. What we do have is about 30 mods and globals that average donating about 4 hours a night each, reporting spam, deleting spam and other mod duties.

He's gone. To report a post (or spammer) just click at the bottom of his post on the little triangle button with the exclamation point in it. A dialog box will come up and you can type "spammer" in it. A global will check his profile and if he's a spammer his account gets deleted.

Im in the UK and the boards are literally full of spam when I wake in the morning. I'd gladly spend a few hours in the morning getting rid of it. Should I just report these everyday, will that help?

hey bro, I posted that comment underneath his spam. and I don't feel the same way you do. actually I think that's ridiculous that you say that. I just love this site and those who attempt to litter it and ruin it just for pleasure or self gain really gets me angry
