What would be my best setup to maximize production also 1000wers or twice as many 600wers since 600w is most efficient thanks in advance happy smoking everyone

Well by my calculations a 1000w should cover about 25sqft so I guess you'd want about 680,000 watts. That's going to be quite the power bill, not to mention ballasts, bulbs, fans, etc. I'm with OGE, you're going to need a bit more money...

First off sorry for all the dick heads above me. I would suggest 600w vertical grows 4x4 for 2 reasons: the savings by not getting reflectors and the increased efficiency resulting in increase yield and profit. I would get the lumatek dual 600w ballast to reduce costs for ballasts. Obviously your going to run out of budget before you run out of space so get as many as you can and come harvest time you will have enough to finish getting equipment. Once you get enough money from the harvests you can upgrade to LEDs to reduce the electric bill and still get awesome yields

Few questions.. So you have 170000 feet to work with and only $25 grand. Obviously you can not use the entire grow area off the bat as your money isnt near big enough yet but you have 2 good starting points to use.Now that said is thier a budget for the electric as you obviously will have to pay for it as its too much to steal lol or you have to have alternate energy ie you have generators or solar commercial installed? Once I got that answer next would be how do you plan to grow? Hydro, soil, aero? I would assume hydro is such a large scale but I guess some might be dare devils and go soil. I would go with 600 watt digital dimmable ballasts. I would use flip flops so each ballast can be used for 2 rooms saving equipment costs. Figure it out as each 4x4 area is one light so if you divided the flowering rooms into 20 by 20 rooms you d go 25 600 watt ballasts which would run 2 20 x20 rooms in flower by use of a flip flop setup. One room on while the other in dark then flip after 12 hours.....For this size op your going to need to make sure you have industrial a/c units on the build, also a full building ventilation and scrubbing setup. I assume you will be on a full 220 setup to hold the amperage draw down and have a certified electrician to do the work as its gonna be a beast of a job plus the plumbing and drainage...Your nutrients will be a nice chunck of change also probably eating a third of your budget you have there. I do build 2 smaller veg rooms like 10 x10 and maybe a 10x10 room for clones and mother plants. Its gotta lot of options all depending on what you have who will do it and how your going to grow or power the op.

17000 sqft of canopy or floorspace? Took more than 25k to properly outfit my 1300 sqft basement hobby shop.

I am positive there are many things you've not considered.

Security
Sanitation
Contractors (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing...)
Cooling & Dehumidification with redundancy
Backup power

That's just a few things off the cuff..

You're missing a 0 on your budget line if you want to fill that space.
I went over this last night with snaps he might need closer to 00. Just to outfit 6000 sqft with 400 lights was 118000 for the hardware with no tax at wholesale pricing. (only ballast bulb, hood)

IMO for this size of grow, you would need a minimum of $500,000. And this would leave you with almost nothing of operating expenses. Not trying to be a downer but im working on a 15000sqft plan and im around a $500,000 estimate. Security and cost of the vault can easily go for 200000 to 300000 alone

6400 sqft of canopy is 400kW. That's going to be lit canopy area, not including other space like aisles to walk, mechanical room/s and on and on.

I was thinking similar, but it was more a general point.

His cooling alone (300 tonne unit if he lights up the entire square footage) will run him 100k or so at wholesale from China.

You can get the ballasts fairly cheap from China, of course you don't get much in the way of warranty.

Personally I wouldn't waste money on hoods, but for many folks that's what they do.

His monthly bills might hypothetically be in the 25k range.

My opinion? He's biting off a lot more than he should in terms of space. It can't be cheap to rent or whatever either.

Permits will need to be pulled by licensed contractors. For an op of this size there went $25k right there. Pulling a permit isn't expensive but hiring licensed, insured, bonded contractors on a job of this scale will have cost associated. You can't have some craigslist electrician do this job lol. HVAC will be a thick wad. You might find a deal on a used chiller off an old mall but reliability is a factor.
