When dealing with a inline fan and charcoal carbon filter is it necessary to connect ducting to the fan. Couldn't i just connect the inline fan to the carbon filter and not worry about any ducting seeing how the fan would expell the CO2 directly into the room. Why is it that ducting is attached to the inline fan?

I have a carbon filter connected directly to my fan in my mother tent... No problems...
