Check these out. Scroll down to pics. All you need to do is hang them and connect the power cord.
~ 150 plug-n-play watts for < $400. Very promising, but I'm holding out for replaceable cobs/chips. All these offerings the chip/cob is not designed to be replaced

There outta be a law

If the chips are mounted in something like Molex connectors, then yes, but are they? Seems like the chips/cobs are solidly secured to the heat sink, so how do you propose to swap them out without some skills and proper equipment?

^^^^^ it would be cheaper to buy the Apollo cobs (multichip) on amazon. Then swap in better cobs

What about not having a hot enough iron, or winding up with hot spots, or.... Speaking for myself, any of these presents a problem that I am ill equipped to resolve, or...

Here's where I've been in the dark, does the thermal paste harden, or does it stay pasty, so that the cob is easily lifted from the heat sink? If that's the case then yeah, but most of the cheap light heat sinks are only good for low wattage cobs, and may not handle a higher quality COB that can be driven harder *though it may not need to), and then you need a bigger driver too, right?

See, I have so many questions, any one of which could trip me up

Why do we need to buy a casing? Mount or hang these single cobs on rails

screw driver, solder gun. ore replace the entire inside. just buy it for the casing

It hardens. it should act like solder. It shouldn't be an issue with a solder gun. Then again it could be some cheap ass no name paste made in china

you could add a larger heat sink and make the drivers remote. Less heat over the canopy

I spent a couple hours on Alibaba yesterday. I think the solution (for me) is to get Down Lights, which are complete and come in CW/NW/WW

All that's needed is to hang them from the included hooks to any kind of rail and wire the ends to the power cord

Just looking for wattage and small enough quantity + free shipping to pull the trigger. At the prices I'm seeing, < $200/~4-6, I can afford to replace them after a couple grows, at which point more of this should be sorted out

None say actual draw. Are they the same as grow lights (~50%)? I emailed a few

Some hardens, some stayz sticky...in my experience the 'non-adhesive' stays sticky and the 'thermal adhesive' goes harder....

HEY! I use cheap no name Chinese stuff! :)

Do you know anything about the eshine 5G? In the video they show one cob being taken apart, and the COB comes out by hand- no grease. I inquired but no response yet. Also inquired about $$$
