im gonna build a box for it and soundproof it too. with the silent fan speed controller it should keep my grow odor free and noise free im hoping !

Definitely interested in the outcome. Odour filtration and temp control scare me the most. The fan will sit inside the box correct? Think I seen one hanging from bungees in a sticky somewhere. How much does the speed controller affect temperature on the light and space overall?im gonna build a box for it and soundproof it too. with the silent fan speed controller it should keep my grow odor free and noise free im hoping !

The only reason I'm even getting a speed controller is for the noise. It's my understanding that with a 400cfm fan hooked up to light and filter may still need to be slowed down due to noise. Is this right?Hi ,
Odor , scares me too but no longer temps as im working with just a 2ft 4 tube t5 ! In Spain I was running a 600w in the summer and that was a constant battle.. the skunk won amongst other female friends
How much will the speed controller affect the temp isnt an issue for me however im intersted in the difference .
Ive not used a speed controller before so i dont know the answers.
http://www.harborfreight.com/router-speed-control-43060.htmlCan you recommend a fan speed controller to keep a 4" inline fan literrally whisper quite so its just operating at its lowest ?
cheers
pulls through a 4in carbon filter plus extract in my 4x4 fine. No smellDefinitely an option. I've seen them on amazon and eBay and the price is right up my alley. Glad I'm not the only one thinking of them. How does it handle smell bro?
dont but the cheap speed controllerDefinitely interested in the outcome. Odour filtration and temp control scare me the most. The fan will sit inside the box correct? putting the fan in a box and using acoustic ducting works well i prefer thatThe only reason I'm even getting a speed controller is for the noise. It's my understanding that with a 400cfm fan hooked up to light and filter may still need to be slowed down due to noise. Is this right?
same fan controller as HF but says idealair on it for more money! Ive used 4 HB controllers for along time. 1 has been on the same 6 inch vortex for 10 years now...
A 400 cfm fan will be cutting it close to cool a 600 watt because of the cfm's you'll lose pulling through the filter and having the air go through the ducting and hood. After the cfm's taken away from the filter/hood and ducting the 400 cfm's turns into 200 cfm's. That's the bare minimum to cool a 600 watt. Once it gets hot in the summer you'll potentially have heat problems.T
The tent is not the problem at all. The tent is 48x48x78 so I had less than 6 inches between my ceiling and my tent. Never thought to put fan inside of tents. Rookie here. Going to have to make a hole to vent exhaust from. Will a 400cfm fan be strong enough, or recommended, for this setup - exhaust fan ---600w light---- carbon filter? With a 400cfm fan how cool does everyone's 600 watters run? How close can I put my lights with this setup?
thanks for the info on this but this controller lets out a humming noise according to another member.but i would get it if i could as its alot cheaper .
does it make a weird humming noise ?same fan controller as HF but says idealair on it for more money! Ive used 4 HB controllers for along time. 1 has been on the same 6 inch vortex for 10 years now...
is the one you have from the UK?got 4 with no humming noises.
but it wont have a UK plug on it will it ?no harbor freight. everybody i know that grows has at least 1 of these from harbor freight with no issues.
no, i dont even know what a UK plug looks like. sorrybut it wont have a UK plug on it will it ?
i need to do both .... ultra stealth required. every decibel counts !putting the fan in a box and using acoustic ducting works well i prefer that
myself than slowing them down with a variac
Yea you're right. In my part of the country summers can be brutal. 100 degrees easy. Looking for a 6" that's around 440cfm. If not I guess it's going to be the huge 8" fan with around 720cfm. Better safe than sorry I guess. With the extra cfm will I be able to be less than a foot from the tops?A 400 cfm fan will be cutting it close to cool a 600 watt because of the cfm's you'll lose pulling through the filter and having the air go through the ducting and hood.
