Whats up guys,

Just wonderin,

1) How long should I veg from seed if I was to plant into 7 gal plastic pots with 75/25 Coco/perlite mix? Is 6-7 weeks enough?

2) How many 7 gallons can I fit under 1, 1000w HPS? My last one, I was able to fit 4, 5 gallons with a veg time of 7-8 weeks, but they didn't fill the space and weren't really grown to it's best while yielding terribly. How much bigger will the 7 gals be with the same veg time?

3) Think I can stick with AN's(Advanced Nutes) lineup for Coco if I get CAL-Mag using Coco? This is my first time ever doing Coco. With a couple successful grape harvests using AN. I was wondering if it would still work for Coco.

4) Canna Coco A+b or AN's bases + cal-mag

Your opinions, suggestions and your successes with veg time / pot size are greatly appreciated. I know these questions have been asked a gazzilion times, but damnit, whenever I'm googling the subjects I'm tired of getting pages from 2001-2004..**** Lol, so much has changed since then and I'd rather see what people are thinking now.

I've been googling for weeks and I can't find any information on this subject. Someone help please!

By the way I'll be vegging under a 1000w MH.

Hey Bro
You veg for as long as you want , stop veging once plant is half the size you want it when finished flowering.
I tried straight perlite , perlite/vermiculite mix and potting mix and found coco / perlite mix is the bomb
Roots grow so fast through that medium , you have to use nutes straight away as coco has no added ferts or trace minerals in it
I am not up with the nutes you mention , i use growrite A+B for veg , Budrite A+B for flower , Cyco DrRepair , Cyco Zyme and Natures Own liquid gold.
I changed to flower after 3 weeks due to space
I am a new grower my self and everything i have picked up on this site has helped so much
There are some Wizards here just wait for one to come along
You will get the info your after
I hope i gave you at least a bit of helpfull info
:peace:

You did, thanks buddy.

However, you said as long as I want...but, what about container size? I know supposedly you can grow huge plants in small containers in coco, but I want to aim for 4-8oz plants with a veg time of 6-8 weeks. Will a 3 gallon be sufficient? Or will a 5 gal be better? If so, how often do you think I'd water if I ran normal temps 77-80F with 30-40% rH in both size containers and what would I benefit from more?

1) Veg time all depends on how big you the plants to get. Keep in mind that the plants will stretch and can get double the size after the 12-12 flip.
2) If you had growth issues and yield issues last time then going to a larger pot is not the fix all. You were doing somthing wrong. My friend that grows with 1000w HPS pulls 3 oz+ per plant in 5 gallon smart pots with a 4 week veg.
3) Yes those nutes will be fine Coco is kind of like soil but kind of like hydro so IMO either soil or hydro nutes can be used. I even use some hydro nutes in my soil grow. Nutes are nutes but not all are created equal AN are good and if they are working just keep using them. I like Botanicare and Cyco personally. Be sure you are checking the Ph of the water after the nutes are added. Incorrect Ph will mess up a good grow.
4) Dont know what you are aking here. But yes those are good nutes and you will want to use a calmg.

Thanks intense,

I was able to get 4-7 oz off 3 gallons in promix with 5 week veg at one point, but last grow I was trying a sealed environment and it went wrong...terribly wrong. Do you think the roots will fill out the 5 gallon to the point of needing a watering everyday if I veg for 7-8 weeks in coco?

Appreciate your help!

Yea they will fill a 5 gal just fine. But you won't need more than 3 gal pots for 7-8 veg.
really? im on week 6 of veg in a 3 gallon nursery pot(has actually only been in the 3 gal for 10 days) and roots are popping out of the bottom. I planned on vegging for 2 more weeks so i dont need to up-pot to a 7 gallon due to being rootbound??(im new to coco*only 2 harvests)

yield wouldnt be affected as if it were soil?

edit: damn didnt know the thread was old lol someone revived it

The roots will always shoot down and show at the bottom regardless of the pot they're in. That's a benefit of coco. Those roots run free through it. It'll be absolutely fine to finish in 3 gal pots. Like I said I'm doing 7 wk veg finishing in 3 gal pots. You might see some root bound plants by end of harvest but nothing that will affect yield. And you'll see more vigorous flowering because the roots are well established. Good luck.
