BML Spyder600 Review

I like the first one best

Mj likes more blue than 10%, more like 15-20%
Yeah that second one is pretty extreme red. BML responds to emails, this is a good sign. Nick liked the 8 white/7 red 15% 25% 58% spectrum as well. So do you think the extra white every 12" is as much of an imbalance problem as having extra reds on the ends?

Cool, thanks for the input Pet and Flux. Seems like a decent spectrum for a perpetual flower tent. The Area51 RW panels use cool white and red too, just not sure I want to deal with 12 or more of them.

I know BML is not as proven, but the silent aspect really appeals to me. Properly driven top bin Osrams with custom spectrum and excellent coverage, I doubt it's going to totally suck.

I just added a blue diode in the last position instead of abutting cool whites on the end. Bumped the blue up 20%, slightly increased PAR, what do you guys think of this?

Looks fine. Like I said, don't sweat the small stuff

As I am not clear, you should ask how the bars will butt together.

If they do so on the right, you will have 2 blue next to one another

IMO it's now too much blue with a too uneven spread of it. The previous one with two whites at the end was perfect.
You're right, one blue per foot is kinda weird, I'll go with the 8 cool whites, 15% 25% 58%. I think it's the best we're gonna do with this red/white color combo, and it certainly doesn't lack in the green department either.

Just do it

The light is going to do just fine

How many bars and what length?

I hope you do a grow thread

More than a few of us are needed to prove/disprove what BML lights can do for mj

I'm planning a 10x10 tent, so if I go with BML I'd get (6) Spydr 600s, 3 along one wall and 3 along the opposite wall. That way there's room in the middle to move around, and somewhere to put a reservoir, etc... I realize most people just stuff the whole tent and access it from the sides, but this is a pretty big tent, and I like to be comfortable while gardening.

My concern with BML is that they're not enough watts for the area they cover. However, they do show it covering a 4x4 area in the video and say it's stupidly efficient. The nug results of the one BML grow thread that exists do look high quality, even if the yield wasn't massive. Each Spydr 600 weighs 23 lbs, so 6 of them would be a lot lighter than 4 AT600, which are 60 lbs each.

If I go with Area 51 I'd have to stack them two deep, and then it might be a pain to adjust the ones in the back... so you've almost got me sold on these. Thing is, I don't really have time to do a whole grow under one before deciding on more, and since they're not proven, it would be kind of a big gamble. They are designed for greenhouses after all. But still, I might do it.

The other fanless option is Illumitex, which are even more expensive, right? Another thought is, I could hang some 70 watt vertical induction bulbs between the Spydrs.

i noticed that 6500k does not give much blue mostly green
compared to how much red warm whites gives it made cool white seem not so useful so i went for 2700k for whites
do you think this is a bad idea ?

i want a light with a good amount of blue so i went for the blue leds the config has 25% blue
http://www.bmlcustom.com/custom-report-details/?partNo=PS3690S101UMSHTHSMHTHSMHU

also i notice other lights use a combination of reds and often use 1.5 reds to every 1 deep red
they also throw in some far reds too
was looking at this site
http://valoya.com/brochures/brochures-in-english/document/enall-products062013pdf?format=raw

do you think far reds are necessary for MJ ?
the spectrum valoya offer for flowering plants they have 17% far red

any thoughts appreciated as i do not strictly know what i am doing lol

peace

I'm missing something

2700 is mostly 630+

I veg with ~ 4300k- stretch is controlled,

Not a fan of far red. I have no real success using it in led and hot5

That said, I did add < 4% 660 to the 2 BML bars I have now

Have you discussed this with Nick at BML?

He might have some valuable input

and hopefully give you a great price,

especially if you offer to report on it with pics

Doesn't hurt to ask

He's very approachable

are you saying the type of red warm white gives or its peak red wavelength is not as useful as the type of blue cool white gives ?

6500k is Blue (400 – 499nm)28%
Green (500 – 599nm)46%
Red (600 – 699nm) 24%
Far Red (700 – 750nm)2%

2700k is
Blue (400 – 499nm) 7%
Green (500 – 599nm)39%
Red (600 – 699nm)48%
Far Red (700 – 750nm)5%

I did mention the tent size and number of units in the first email. On their webpage you have to order 11 or more to start getting a break. Clearly that's marketed to commercial agriculture greenhouses. I'll mention it though, like you said, maybe if I document it. Still not sure I'm ordering these though, we'll see.

if you used far red IR you would have denser buds and bigger buds ( speeds up metabolism). Still the biggest buds I ever got were under par t5. The size of a football on the plant. combo of 5400k, redsuns, 2700k, and 1 coral wave.. another batch had flora suns instead of 2700k. The densest buds ever were under the Inda gros

Drop by my thread just posted new pics of my hot5

I think it's too soon to notice any benefit of the 2 BML bars as side lighting

I am mixing Q 6500 + Florasun + Q 2900

Forgot about my Coral Wave, so thanks for that
