Each Spydr 600 weighs 23 lbs, so 6 of them would be a lot lighter than 4 AT600, which are 60 lbs each.

If I go with Area 51 I'd have to stack them two deep, and then it might be a pain to adjust the ones in the back... so you've almost got me sold on these. Thing is, I don't really have time to do a whole grow under one before deciding on more, and since they're not proven, it would be kind of a big gamble. They are designed for greenhouses after all. But still, I might do it.

The other fanless option is Illumitex, which are even more expensive, right? Another thought is, I could hang some 70 watt vertical induction bulbs between the Spydrs.

When you buy LEDs you do not need to be too concerned with watts, a better way of comparing LEDS is through PPF, PPFD, PAR, UMOL, UMOL2, or if you want to compare the cost effectiveness compare UMOL/Joule and see which gives you the best option

The DIY is on schedule, "the builder" already has the heatsinks, I even got to choose which fans I wanted.

I'll check out that Innoled thing though, and I still like the BML concept, hope their "thou-ie" kicks ass!

I thought the same thing when I saw that test......also wouldn't mind seeing the SE-220 in there.

Anyone have an opinion between 4x SE220's or a BML 1200? (at something like the B15% G25% R58% spectrum mentioned above) I need something for flower only and am having a time making up my mind.

Any input welcome. Cheers

oops, sorry, thought you meant the 1000. I'm looking through everything in this thread, trying to find the best custom design for mj.

I went with the amare solarsystem 880 package....and im REALLY glad i did (thank you petflora for the little push in that direction). I have been using 2 Amare 'SE-220's ( half the 880 setup) over a 4'x2.5' space. For 8 days and WOW....the difference was very noticeable in just 48hrs but the growth is unreal....i replaced a vented 1000w hps. Being able to drop the light from 26" to 8" is sweeeeeeeet

You went with the 880, but only used 440? Those 220s run $800 each, so 880 would be $3200? What the????

My space is modular. Like a windtunnel. So i move them around...another reason the 880 worked for me...some can go to my veg space and then get switched to flower.

Im a certified greenhouse manager...went to school for commercial ag. So my space is pretty streamlined. Minimal and effeciant.

I may post pics at some point.

P.S. I went with the 880 all at once instead of a 2 at a time cause you get a price break. Also when i emailed about specs and par/watt ratio the owner of the company replied himself with every spec requested and we had a nice chat about spectrum and their diodes and such. Super nice guy, up front and completely lacking pretension.

He clearly stands by his product

Oh I see, I'm interested in understanding why you would go with a product that uses fans and consumes 880 watts to a Spydr 1200 that consumes only 670 watts and has passive heat sinks and PAR readings that are insane, and the price is nearly $1,000 cheaper. I've talked with guys who put the Spydr at 6" from canopy with no issues.

The spyder wouldnt fit my footprint as easily as the amare's do....i have multiple 10'x2.5' bays. so i would need 2 spyders and have the top bars custom fit to 30" for the top bar to fit my bays.

Also the amares are getting about 1800 par at 12" ...each....so im not worried about the par.

keep in mind I don't have a spyder to compare with, And I'm not saying that one is better than the other. I'm merely saying that my choice was made at least partially due to my particular setup and so far I'm quite happy with them. The real test will of course be what will my flower results be using 2 of them in leu of the 1000 hps that the amares replaced. Im at day 9 and feeling optimistic. I am documenting the progress and will likely post it later.

P.S. also last i checked the spydel 1200 was $2400 ....the amare 880 was with discount dropped from $2800 to $2400...so it was NOT $1000 more...so to cover the same space i would have needed to buy 2 spyder 1200's or downgrade to the 600 which would be 330w each instead of the 440 with 2 amares.....also the spectrum was made for cannabis specifically....i wasnt as impressed with BML's
