Give a little get a lot

I have been growing in a 40 gallon wick system for over 4 years.

I have read more information then I can to share.

Another grower that is a good friend decided to take me under his wing.

There are three things he said that are great for outdoor but not sure it relates to indoor.

1. Forget light output. Lumens mean very little its about the reflection back to the plant?

2. Use MJ specific NPK nutrients. The proper NPK will give me the explosive yield I desire.

3. Switch from organic soil to hydro rocks.

All beans are herbies and the strain I am running now is a THC bomb Feminized.

600 watt hps mh dimable, black gold organic, my own nutes creation, is 1 9 5 NPK for flowering zero for veg.

My harvests have been max 2oz per as low as 1 oz per.

Any suggestions ?

I have taken 100's under my wing

They know that Lumens mean NOTHING
They never use bloom nutes
They average 8 to 12 oz's per plant (indoors)
They NEVER flush before harvest
They grow some of the best buds you'll ever see

what kind of suggestions you lookin for ?

I knew lumens meant nothing once your in the usable zone.
How do i get the above using a 600 watt hps and a wick system?
Whats the typical size to start flowering mine are about 19inchs or a third to fifth set before going 12/12 in order to achieve that 8-12.

What type of nutes or supplements of nutes do I get? Advance Nutrients has so many choices. Do i need a bloom fert and the advanced nutrients and can you inbox me pm with your advice.

no PM privilege yet?

Lumens is a measurement for how humans see light, PAR is what matters to plants

would not use advanced nutes if they were free !!!

for hydro use DynaGro Foliage Pro all the way thru

For soil/soil less use Jack's Classic Citrus FeeD 20-10-20 all the way thru

soil less is better than soil in terms of being in control

control includes being able to read the plants needs and adjusting the room to deliver those needs

Build the root system, veg for 6 to 9 weeks by starting the plant in a 1 gallon pot then when it is at your 19 inch mark (about 4 weeks) up can it into a 3 to 5 gallon pot (5 gallon homer pot is awesome) remove all of the leaves and branches except for the top 2 nodes and bury the stem in the new bigger pot, veg for another 4 to 5 weeks (gives us our 9 week veg) then plant should be a 2 to 3 foot bush flip it to flower and treat it right

when you think about it, it's actually quite easy

I learned from RM3 he has a new book coming out soon check

Copy that thanks again for the resources. I use a wick system. basically its a medium with a wick allows the plant to water itself by seeking out the source. I am very limited in space for now that will change. 20-10-20 all the way through makes me wonder if the low NPK that I've been using is the reason why I've gotten shit harvest. The quality is always good but the amount yielded in 3 months is imo crap. I have to be stealthy so my patients do not go without. Right now my perpetual is not producing whats needed to keep everyone without need. I will definitely try your extra weeks of veg and ill have to FIM or titty tie them to keep it manageable. I use a black strap molasses and potassium tab but this is the lowest yielding strain I've ran so far.....

IMO using the wick system is = to giving up control

but should still get better yields with a proper veg and the right nutes

1 oz really thats not very good train ur plants if u not doing a screen super crop the shet outa it should give u more yield my system I use for my scrog grow is a res under the pots I use big pots I setup a pond pump in res with air stone as well I set a feed time like a 15 min feed every 4 hours my pot norm fulla perlite so really good drainage I top feed water goes in top of pot goes through pot drains into the res roots never leave the pots and it pretty much will look after its self very low maintenance once a day I go in bend upward growth under my screen takes about 6 to 9 weeks of veg to fully fill screen never had a nut burn or root rot from 4 plants I get about 12oz dry and like 2 grams of bubble hash from trim I use dutch masters gold 2 part nuts I need top up res about every 3 days

8 to 12 oz's per plant sounds good.. how many plants per light?

I guess what I am wondering is your yields relating to your space covered with what light rather than per plant..

I'm also a fan of RM3..

I'm totally curious what those trays are too.. they look something that was repurposed? Those are my favorite kinds of somethings. haha.

Exactly what type of wick system are you using? is it a box system for the hydro shop or a DIY set up? If plant height is a problem take a look at Nugbuckets Mainlining tutorial https://www.rollitup.org/t/the-main-lining-thread.542308/
It may help. everything you need is on the first 2 or 3 pages. It works with clones or seeds.

I use a DIY system with Organic Soil / River Rock mixture. I have always kept my plants low and single cola grow about 10-20 plants that each give more than a OZ. This is not the traditional system but it has work's for me until bigger and better arise. Been doing this for over 4 years with consistent results.

I found out why its decreased in yield FYI to keep "my" thread on track....LMAO

Apparently the reason I am seeing decreased yields is a change in strains.... I switched from Advanced Bio Diesel Mass to THC bomb to see the difference in strains...The THC bomb is not a heavy fert strain. So the 10 that are ready for the flower closet will only get min ferts

I only pulled out one tub there are five. but this is the basic wick systemgrowwick.jpg

By flowering the roots are pushing out the holes in the upper tray and filling the reservoir. The above photo is at 4th week of flower.

The system is completely self contained and only needs TLC above the canopy for almost completely Zero Watering. I only fill the reservoir once every four weeks
