Oh i see now, yeah i would say you can use it. The ingredients are ocean kelp, fish and alfalfa. How much did you pay for that?

The compost starter isn't a liquid. It is a dry mix of the listed ingredients and we don't know ratios or anything.

That Bio-Tone Starter Plus looks like old stock to me. Check for an expiration date on the bag. While the 'plant food' ingredients have virtually unlimited shelf-life, the added microbials do not (they're good for up to 2-3 yrs). If it is expired, or older than 3 years (as I expect that it is), try to bring it back (it wont be as good as fresher product) unless you got it real cheap or discounted.

The newer bags look slightly different and have a re-sealable zipper. Espoma products are widely available at hardware stores/garden centers. Hardware stores will always try to sell off their old stock, unaware or not caring that the product has degraded.

You can use the Bio-Tone SP by itself (you wont need the Compost Starter). Best to mix it into the soil prior to planting in it, but it can be applied to existing soil. Mix it into the soil surface, around the rim of the pot, then water thoroughly.
