the oregon-idaho border and minimum wage

so moving 800 feet would mean half their business?

this is why you shouldn't speak in public. all righties for that matter.
Britches shit.

Seriously. I am not understanding why they wouldn't! I must be missing something! Build costs? Prevailing wages for builders maybe? This raises a lot of questions as to why they wouldn't move the 800 feet.

I wonder the same about Vancouver, Washington then also. Over the bridge Portland is again, about 800 ft across the river.

Permitting costs, minimum wages, income taxes, corporate taxes. Many variables.

Because people are idiots and don't understand time is money too. Extra wear and tear on the car. Less sleep. Unless you get a minimum of 6 hours and up to 9, you're ruining your health.

Then there's the taxes like you say. There's no sales tax in Oregon, but all other taxes for residents are higher. It's the same concept why people from Mexico sneak in, and eventually sneak back. The extra $5 a day after expenses I listed above, is worth it to not get a perception of more violation than necessary.

Places like Walmart already pay higher than minimum wage, barely. So they like to increase minimum wage, to undercut their competition.

It's all a big game and has nothing to do with treating people better. The name of the game is getting the most money for the share holders. The other bullshit is all smoke and mirrors to make it look like those who have the same views Buck do get more money. Most likely Buck's family and wife are heavily invested in the garbage he spews.

Having Asperger's has taught me people aren't there for your best interests. It's all about their interests.

Where do you think the OP got the idea for this thread? From some article like this one. A liberal rag by coincidence.

it's literally less than a mile by car to the other side of the river.

this is getting hilarious to watch idiots grasp at straws when the answer is so fucking obvious.

probably because i stayed at the border two nights ago.

I was talking about the article mostly. The majority of people who border cross aren't just two miles away. There are many more factors, and 99% of those are about money. If you dig deep enough, so is the other 1%.

You have an agenda, and it's not for the good of all. It's for the good of whom you choose. Everyone is getting played, and threads like this one keep that money agenda of dominance and control going on. The whole liberal and conservative paradigm is bullshit.

I'm working on a solution, but the sad fact is, unless I can make money from it and protect my ideas with that money, someone else will use their wealth to silence me.

You're not for anyone but yourself. You've admitted as much. I'd do more if I had the means.

I've noticed more and more people are wizening up, and getting the scam those like you perpetrate working along with the "evil conservative boogeyman!" Get real.

most of ontario, oregon residents reside several miles from the walmart and have to drive clear across town to get to the walmart, which is right at the border. the walmart is surrounded by other big box stores, hotels, and national chains. the part of the town with the houses is further away.

so why would one extra mile and about 55 seconds cause walmart to lose business, especially when walmart would save 20% on their workforce?

you are the idiot who posited this as the explanation in the first place, don't get all pissy and ass-burger on me for querying you about your stated beliefs.

Liberal douche says what?

why are you calling me a douche when you can not even defend your own stated beliefs which you posted less than an hour ago?

Because I'm tired of your douche bagging. Picking on one thing and twisting my words, along with those of others. So fuck you! That simple enough?

I should keep this to myself. But there are several members who quit because of your antics. One of those was SirGreenThumb.

you're welcome for sirgreenthumb.

i'm not twisting your words in any way. you said people wouldn't go 800 feet away because the time factor and the war and tear to their cars.

i'm just seeing if you will keep defending that notion. you don't have to get all pissy about giving up a retarded notion like that, it is good to give up retarded notions.

i am picking on you though, because it is fun to pick on stupid people.

I suspect you are not too heavily invested in 'the garbage' you have been spewing then on this particular area of discussion.

Certainly not in the context that it was brought up by Canna Sylvan.

SirGreenThumb is my friend, yet you call me stupid?

I was talking about the article, which is 20 miles. But the dumb ass will go to Oregon for an extra $1.80. After everything factored in, is an extra $5 a day. What you're talking about isn't what I ever said, I was bringing up a new topic of why people will do and corporations follow. That if someone will travel 20 miles for a 40 round trip, they'll do this 800 feet bullshit you spew. If no one will go work on the the Idaho side, and travel up to 40 miles or more. It's not this dumb ass notion Walmart controls human psychology. Minimum wage people aren't bright, but they don't want to let Walmart save 20% when they can go over the border, like an illegal does from Mexico. Yet you call me stupid?

I'm not making any stupid notion, you're putting words in my mouth because you've lost too many brain cells from a childhood pot addiction.

It's fun to pick on stupid people? Ok, smarty. What's your IQ? Whenever I was tested, for both GATE as a child and other various reasons into adulthood, my minimum score was 123 as a child with a high of 128 as an adult. Yet you call me stupid?

Maybe I am stupid since I even respond to your bullshit. :finger:

You have no idea about the relevance of the term "Location, Location, Location".

Go study business Buck, your treadmill selling doesnt count.

Could it be, that it was built before the minimum wage increase went into effect?

Since we know Walmart is a greedy corporation, there has to be an explanation other than paying higher wages equals more profit. Which saying that last part, even mockingly, makes me feel as stupid as the libs on this site.

grand opening october 30th, 2013.

min wage in oregon at that time: $8.95 (up from $8.80 the year before)
min wage in idaho at that time: $7.25 an hour

so why did walmart not build 800 feet away on the other side of the river and save $1.70 per hour on hundreds of employees working thousands of hours every week?

the answer is obvious, you guys just need to swallow your conservative dogma and admit it.

So obvious none of your fellow libs or yourself can answer it?

Because Walmart cares?
Because higher wages equal more profits?

I can't wait to hear the answer and the concrete citation that proves your answer is factual.

We wait with bated breath...

i'll give you a hint, since i feel bad for you. but it goes against your conservative dogma, so you will probably not see anything, as you are so very well programmed to do.

hint: walmart is not the job creator
