Can't get Bho to honeycomb

What's up guys? I've been making Bho for about a year now, I have always liked shatter a lot so that's what I've always made. Well lately I've wanted to get into making honeycomb, however the last 3 runs I've done I haven't been able to produce anything but a taffy/shatter. I usually run my temp between 100-110 when I'm vac purging shatter. For trying honeycomb I've raised my temps, I've tried 120-150 degrees and have even been purging for up to 32 hours and still no honeycomb!! What the fuck am I doing wrong???

You're too hot. Start closer to 90/100F and pile it higher and deeper, so that when it outgases, it inflates into a muffin.

Ohhhhh I gotcha! So spreading it real thin is for making shatter then right? Cuz that's what I did I spread it really thin! That must be my problem! Thanks man

Exactly what FD said....

When making honeycomb, I always vac at room temp at first.

Put oil in vac, no heat yet.
Pull muffin to -15,deflate
Pull to -20 , deflate
25 deflate
Repeat at full vac.

Remove from chamber, and stack the oil on top of it self... Choose your shape ,cookie,block,square, etc..

Now, back to the chamber, start at room temp again and gradually increase temps along with vac... It'll comb.

Sounds good, but how long should it take to honeycomb? I've been purgin the shit out of this stuff for hours and hours, I'm talkin at least 24 hours now. Still no honeycomb

So here is a picture of that shit I was talkin about. I apologize for the picture quality it's hard to see thru the chamber. And here is a picture of the same stuff in a shatter state. I really am just beginning to wonder if this is one of those strains that won't wax up

It can take quite some time for oil to honeycomb, like 2 days sometimes.

It's difficult to give you an accurate opinion with the pics supplied, it seems in your attempt to get shatter, you may have decarbed the oil under the heavy vac and temps too high.

If you ran your vac too long at temps like 130-150, decarboxylation has most likely occurred.

It COULD be a strain that doesn't want to wax also.

Take the oil out,and see what the consistency it is....
If it's really sticky and a goo.... It's decarbed ....

The bright side, it will make incredible oral medication.

Hey man! So I pulled the oil out and it definitely is not gooey, it's definitely starting to budder up a little! So I'm just not sure what to do now. I think I'm gonna throw er back in the chamber! Fuck it. I've got plenty of good material so I figure if I fuck this batch up it was a good learning experience! I did just do a dab of it and WOW! Tasted great and gave me a good bell ringer! Just really really want to produce sum killer lookin comb! What did you think of the picture of it in shatter form?

If not, most likely the terps are gone,and you may call it quits for this batch?

However, if you got plenty of material please continue to try and get that batch to comb... Practice makes perfect .

Next batch, follow the above instructions and you should get a perfect comb.

And yes, when I open the lid the aroma is just like BAM!! In ur face! And I was really starting to lose hope but your comments have given me some more confidence in trying to perfect this stuff.

Visually ... That shatter shot looks decarbed, as Bublonichronic points out, decarbed oil will not comb.

But like I said, I can not confirm or deny if it truly is decarboxylation or simply a supple oleoresin.

How old is/was the material ran Outlaw?

If you have any of those little silicon storage containers just pile some in those and do your cycle purge. That's what I did last time. I had got 15 of those containers for about $10 off Amazon. Then if you need to kneed and work it a little during can just pinch/squeeze the container sides inward.

I've seen people do it without a chamber looks really good but there Temps seem off he said he put it at 200 for 24hrs sounds scary but was thinking of trying a run non of my budder batches have turned out turned in to a wax. Not sure if that helps ..... I'm also looking for a good recipe for budder and honeycomb.

Purge a slab of shatter, after its finished place the slab into a Pyrex and whip it over a scientific hotplate until it is completely opaque and one consistency, then spread that back out on parchment and vac it down or let it dry your on heat and you will have a sheet of honeycomb
