Pretty much explains it. I don't have clay pellets yet just my coir and my system. The pellets come on Thursday. The seedling is only 2 wks old and already a bit stressed in the pot of pure coir I need to transplant and thought it would be good to put her in my dwc. Can I use the coir as the medium and how would this work. Do I dangle the roots thought the holes then cover with coir or transplant it like normal and top feed till the roots grow down. I just don't want to stress the poor thing out anymore. Should I put super thrive in the bucket and how much nutes cause she has been eating?image.jpg

Bit small but since the roots aren't huge it should be easy to adjust well if done right. Wait until you have pellets you can't hold the plant with coco as the coco will fall in your reservoir making a mess. Super thrives good to add. Best thing would be a rooting stimulator. Rapid start by GH has done wonders for me. I transplanted a month old lemon og into water it stalled growth for about 2 weeks as it regrew roots. They've exploded and are growing much quicker than the coco now. All is right lol

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Here's what she looks like now. I don't have the Netti pot so I just used a plastic planter that has holes in the bottom. I added extra holes around the bottom. The pearl lite is pretty small but this should do till I get the extra stuff I need on Thursday.

The one in the first photo is actually cotton candy but I decided to transplant my Girl Scout cookie instead.

perlite is not great for dwc, it holds too much moisture. make sure you have a ton of holes in that cup, and keep water level down so you're only getting splashes. once roots drop, you should be ok. watch for signs of damping off.

Thanks I got the water just licking on the bottom of the pot I will check in a bit to see how damp it is. I figure it can't be as bad as coir when it comes to holding the water it's only for a week or so. I would buy the hydroton but I just don't have the money not even a dolla!

What sign would I watch for cause usually when they dampen off it just happens out of no where. I had it happen to my g-13 X blueberry headband seedling that was only like 4 days old. It hit the light and bent right in the middle!

damping off is rotting, too wet. i never use hydroton, i use gravel or river rock (sold for 2-3$ a bag at lowe's or home depot).

just keep the water level well below the perlite, once you have water roots the plant will harden off, and the net cup is only a way to hold it in position.

Ha ha I was looking at the aquarium rocks and was gonna get those but my head said to get the perlite. I haven't bought the hydroton yet. Should I buy the aquarium rocks instead?

no, go in the garden section and find landscape gravel. much better. they'll have pea gravel, small granite and others. granite and river rock are best, and reusable.

I got a bag of river rocks at the dollar tree it says they are polished will that make a difference? I'll use them when I transplant to the net pots when they come in the mail.( hoping she's not to stressed out from transplanting)
