Haha my bad,got a little caught up in conversationNo sorry, was responding to kcbud's question on the trimming of the leaves. Not sold on the necessity of the dome on clones after the first week or so. I think once they've established some roots (yours has new growth = some roots, providing them with circulation/air which they need and will strengthen the root system, it's more important than the humidity dome. That said, if your humidity is low (<50%) or you see they're responding well keep the dome on until you see it's growing well.
After trying and seeing others try different methods for cloning, imo aero cloners are the end-all-be-all for consistency. Have never heard or seen a post from anyone that went aero, going back to soil/rooters. That said, some clone by simply sticking the cutting into a glass of water! imo, genetics make the difference, I'm sure I'll run into some plants in the aero cloner that don't root or give me a hard time, just hasn't happened yet.
based on what ive read(remember though im a clone noob too so i doubt my answer is what you're looking for) you shouldn't give a clone nutes untill its properly rooted and even then in small doses for a while then gradually increase the amount over time.I apologize if this is something that you've already read up on and you're just looking for someones more detailed answer.I just thought I'd throw in my thoughts untill one of these other guys chimes in.Another quick question if I may. How long should I wait to start my clones on nutes? I use FFOF soil, so I don't usually start seedlings on nutes for about 3 to 4 weeks. Should I start clones on nutes as soon as they go in the dirt?
That makes sense. I'm a first time cloner, so I don't know much yet. no problem kc,best of luck!im sure somebody more knowledgeable on that matter will check in tomorrow to make sure I didn't give you some bunk info hahaThat makes sense. I'm a first time cloner, so I don't know much yet. Thanks man.
If you're DIY inclined there's a lot of available plans/threads showing how to do it. It's really is simple, probably the quickest fixture I've made. All the materials are plastic so easy to cut/work with and you can make as many clone sites as you want. The one I made is 12 sites but I could easily fit another 8 if I wanted/needed to. Extra space is good, go for the tentYea I gotta get an aero cloner as soon as I can haha,Im impatient as hell and I think having the ability to open it up and check for roots without damaging the clone will be what I need.next thing im getting tho is an actual grow tent,my little 5 square foot cabinet is just a hassle, not enough room to maneuver everything around, especially since I still have to put in my ventilation
Yea I didn't want to pay out my ass for an Ez cloner so I am definitely going to go for diy,and probably going to only go for about 10 clone sights.the tent im getting is by the brand lighthouse,48"x48"x84".the only problems I see people have with them is a little light leaking through the zippersIf you're DIY inclined there's a lot of available plans/threads showing how to do it. That's a good size, you'll appreciate the head room, for space and it's easier to manage temps, small-ass tents can be a pain in the butt. You can manage small light leaks, the time you need to worry about light leaks is during flowering, leaking during the dark period is not a good thing, other than that no big deal with small leaks. It can be as simple as draping a towel or blanket over the area with any potential leaks.Yea I didn't want to pay out my ass for an Ez cloner so I am definitely going to go for diy,and probably going to only go for about 10 clone sights.the tent im getting is by the brand lighthouse,48"x48"x84".the only problems I see people have with them is a little light leaking through the zippers
Yea im really looking forward to having the extra headroom too,the cabinet I have now is only 5'6" tall (if i remember correctly) and every freaking time I lean in to check on something i bang my head on my damn reflector when i lean back out hahaThat's a good size, you'll appreciate the head room, for space and it's easier to manage temps, small-ass tents can be a pain in the butt. Yea ive definitely learned from this,I don't think im going to clone again untill I get an aero cloner though.this next run im going to try and atleast start 10 in solo cups and just keep the ones that are doing best, the first time I tried growing inside the only plant I had did so good in veg I didn't think to even start any moreOh well, shit happens, as long as you learn a bit each time you'll get it going soon enough. good luck on the next round! And yes, never put all your eggs in one basket as they say
Its not that big of a deal, just a little time wasted but I got plenty of that.it was a learning experience, and brag on them man! lol how they doing?Bummer man, I'm sorry to hear that. I just checked on my babies and was coming here to brag on them and see how yours were. Sorry man. You'll surely have better luck next time.
