It was quite well publicised that our Govt of the day was complicit in the refuelling of planes used for "extraordinary rendition" in Shannon Airport (as Ireland is the furthest point west in the Atlantic for going to America).

The soldiers had to stow their weapons, including sidearms when on Irish soil, but they were still complicit.
