Do vegging plants ever show Sex? Also When is the first week of Flower?

Hey guys,

I think I'm a total dumbass, I've been under the impression that if you veg out a plant it will eventually show preflower and sex.

Is this totally incorrect? Do I have to clone and force flower it? Damn that seems a long time to wait, 2 weeks to root and an other 2 weeks transition.

ALSO, This, for whatever reason I can never find a straight answer to.... I've got my girls in organic soil, but I also have Vegamatrix nutes to feed them as needed because they are in small pots for space requirements and I know they will start running out. My question is: To breeders and on feeding charts. If a plant is a 9 week flowering hybrid, is that 9 weeks including the 2 week transition/stretch? or is it 9 weeks from early flower?

Yes most plants will pre flower once they are sexually mature usually it is quite easy to tell but some times female pre flowers won't put out white pistiles, once a plant reaches sexual maturity you can clone it and once your clone takes it will pre flower almost instantly because it mimacs its mother, female pre flowers generally have white pistile forming in the 4th to 6th nodes male pre flowers are like a little ball on a stick hard to see by naked eye suggest using a magnifier, females defiantly easier to tell

Ok so I was correct. I read some stuff that made me think the only way to tell was to flip them or start flowering clones.

As for the flowering time stuff... I am fairly certain that 9 weeks includes the transition time, just not positive. I suppose it doesn't really matter. I was just trying to sync up how long my girls have been growing with the feeding chart a lil to get an idea on where to start feeding them as they are gonna need the boost soon....

So depends on if she's mature going into flower, if not then it may take a little time to start flowering and I'd say you would count from first signs of flower, (I have had mature plants show signs after a few days)

Yea, agreed on that... I have some clones that started growing pistils after 1 week of 12/12. But I also had some seedlings that I flipped at like 4 nodes(I have a weird grow going on right now, lol), they stretched like fucking crazy(prob should have put under MH for these 2 weeks but used the HPS instead). It's 2 full weeks today and still no pistils, think they are more in a light deprived veg state but look like they are almost mature.

Yes, eventually she will show pistols, but it might take some vegging & only if she's not stressed in any way. It's probably quicker to take a cutting & put it in 12/12 room.

Breeders usually include the transition/stretch. *However* usually transition/stretch takes much shorter for experienced growers - the healither your plant, the shorter it takes. So you still have to watch your plant closely & note your progress, so that next time you have something to refer to (& check if you're doing any better).
