Do plants normally look like this when about ready for harvesting? (pictures inside)

Hello all

My plants are just about ready to harvest. 1 or 2 more weeks to go I think. The problem is I'm not sure if they're as healthy as they could be. They have pretty large buds but some of the leaves are a light green/yellowish color and are withering just at the tip of the leave. Some of the leaves on the lower part of the plant are completely withered, and I'm not sure if it's supposed to look like this.

The growing medium is 50% regular topsoil from the garden center, 25% vermiculite and 25% perlite.

I use HESI's series of nutrients as they've instructed (hesi.nl) (we're not using the enzyme product though).

Right now we're giving them 400 mL of water every other day. We've stopped giving them nutrients a week and a half ago because we planned on harvesting them, but started again since we're waiting a bit longer.

So can anyone tell me if they're ok, or if there's something they need, and if so, what?

As orecal said (hi ore)..they look like that at the end...as for the lighter green, thats usually a N thing..I don't know what your nutes N level is... Have you checked the trichomes color ?? Seem like some decent plants... whoo hoo

Yeah we're pretty happy with the plants. They look MUCH better than our last, and first, grow. We've finally got decent looking buds Hopefully the next grow will be better. We're germinating the Northern Lights seeds right now

We're giving the plants 50 mL of "Bloom-Complex" per 10 L of water. The NPK ratio of this is 4/3/5.
In addition to this, because they're flowering, we're giving them 25 mL of "Phosphorus-Plus" per 10 L of water. The PK ratio of this (there's no nitrogen in it) is 8/4.

So I guess the combined ratio is 4/3/5 plus the half of 0/8/4, (4/3/5 plus 0/4/2) which equals an NPK ratio of 4/7/7. Was it the relative amounts of NPK you were thinking of or the absolute amounts? I'm not quite sure how to calculate the absolute amounts.

I checked the trichomes a couple of days ago. They had gone from being transparent about a week earlier to being somewhere between transparent and milky in color. So we're waiting a bit longer.

dude...your plants have way more than two weeks to go...those are just hairs thus far......start giving them nutes again....stop flushing them...if I had to guess I would say you have at least a month to go....at least you are causing deficiencies from flushing

Ok. Thanks for the heads up! We'll let them grow grow more then. We've started giving them nutrients again about 4 days ago. I'm going to check on them today to see how they're doing and post some pictures later.

They look a little better now. Not perfect but they've gotten more green and less yellow.

The strange thing is some of the leaves (most of them) are a healthy green color. Other leaves are more of a light green, others are more yellow, some are yellow and the tip of the leaves have withered and some of the leaves are completely withered. The discoloration, regardless of whether it is light green, yellow or brown (withered), is always the worst at the tip of the leave. It seems to progress from the tip of the leave and inwards towards the plant.

Perhaps this is normal when plants are flowering, I don't know. They've only gotten nutrients for about 4-5 days now after we started flushing. I've wondered about this: if it's a deficiency why are only some of the leaves affected and why does it differ so much from leave to leave? Ie. from totally healthy to completely withered?

But besides the miscolored leaves the plants are looking pretty healthy actually. The buds are growing in size, but of course I'd like them to grow even more if it's possible

I've also included a pic of our new Northern Lights babies. They are about a week old.

dude you are gonna have some amazing buds but you have to wait till it is bude...I just see a ton of white hairs....I dunno I think you have a few weeks but that second pics looks fuckin amazing!

sweet plants dude....u got a few more weeks left yet though.......wait till 30% - 40% of the hairs have gone brown/red then start to flush again...try and push for 2 weeks of flushin then you will have some very strong and fat buds.

Be patient grasshopper those buds have some time to grow. I stopped flushing my plants last grow and flushed out the plats next to them. No difference in taste and or smoke. I did a blind taste test like they used to in the old pepsi commercials. My buds couldn't tell the difference in the buds. The weight was approximately 7% more than the dried weight of the flushed plants. Just my two cents.

damn your plants lookin pretty tasty man, especially like honkeytown said, that second pic holy shit man very beautiful... i am on my first grow and on day 35 of flowering today, mine look not as good as yours bud not bad at all for bagseed i think, should stop and check it if anyone has a min, but other then that keep up the good work and happy growin yummy...peace

awesome man cant wait for the update.. sounds like they are doin good hopefully they will fatten up some more.. im only on my first grow and have learned loads of knowledge but seems like your doin good man keep up the good work ill be back to check on the update..happy growin man peace

Flushing works. You will notice that flushed bud burns clean and tasty. The ash will be mostly white.

Unflushed bud will have black ashes, snap, crackle and pop. If you run your PPM hot until the very end you can even taste the different type of ferts like kelp and seabird quano (yuk).

If you don't want to flush for two weeks then at least run something like Clearex or Final Flush for 4 days.

Everything should turn yellow, red or purple depending on the strain. Guess what color my blueberry turns?

Soma's advice on harvest is the best I've ever heard. "When you think your plants are ready for harvest, wait another week and your buds will be better". Try it works...

Thanks for your advice StinkBud. We will definitely be flushing them. Preferably for two weeks. If we're a little late then they might just get one week as we don't want the trichomes to get too dark before harvesting.

Here's an update on the plants with pictures. They're getting fatter and fatter. More of the hairs have gone brown but the vast majority are still white. I'd say it's about a 95/5 white to brown ratio.

Check out the closeup, they're getting pretty sticky as well .
