First time growing. Please help with any tips. How am I doing?

Hello everyone, I decided to finally take up the challenge of growing. I managed to get 18 seeds. I saw the methods of germinating them and decided to go with the water in glass method. I put my seeds in the glass of water and I heard you don't want them in there any longer than three days. I saw a few crack open and I took them all out on the third day (today June 16) and planted them. I used miracle gro.. Only soil I had at the time being. I planted all 18 in a long tray with 18 planting holes. I saw on several sites that you should plant a quarter inch in the soil and lightly cover it up. Somewhere else also mentioned planting quarter inch down but leaving it uncovered for a few days til it sprouts up. So I did 9 covered, 9 uncovered. I used a spray bottle and moistened all 18. I put in a dark place inside. When they sprout up I will take outside to get sunlight. How Does That Sound?? Anything I did wrong?? Any tips? I'll keep updated. Thanks for reading..

Hey bro I like ur start up. When u take the seedlings outside put them into the shade initially and gradually move them into full sun over about a five day process giving them more each day. That will keep them from burning. Idk what king of MG soil u have I hope it doesn't have pelletized fertilizer in it. That may burn also. The best one I have tried in the MG line up is Organic Choice. I have used it and recommend it highly. Don't feed anything for three weeks. Get back to me on the soil I'm interested in knowing.

Thanks, I will use that technique when moving them outside. And for the MG soil.. I believe it says it feeds the plants fir up to like 6 months.. It doesnt say anything about fertilizer though. Do you think I'll be fine or should I buy other soil..? Thanks

Miracle Grow is a very hot soil, you should mix in some perlite to reduce those hot effects and avoid compaction, no seedling mix,...either indeed you are new or very tough guy ...we wait to see? you could make a chicken shit tea, but lets get your blind plants thru initial growth first no?

If it feeds ur plants for up to six months it has fertilizer in it and the problem guys are having with pre nuted soil brands is burn on new seedlings. It may or may not be problematic in the long run as the plants roots grow and become more able to handle the hot soil as time goes on. Is it too late to replant? If it were mine I would. But it's up to you.

Edit: if ur going to use the MG dilute it with a peat perlite mix not just perlite. So like 50% peat/lite and 50% MG. u still may get some burn though. But it's better diluted than not.

Thanks for the info. What is the best soil? Can I get generic basic plain soil? For now at least.

Great source of nitrogen and sure...use it as long as it's well composted...like a month or so...chicken shit breaks down quick as I understand it so use it to amend ur soil but don't plant into chicken shit alone. It's too rich. So maybe 30% chicken shit and the rest peat/lite. Also u need some minerals. A bit of lime and a bit of Epsom salts. Cannabis are magnesium whores.

I like a brand called ProMix. But it's just peat/lite. U need to add to it. Or u can buy MG organic choice it has everything except the lime
