One month old seedlings 1st question

Hey rui, how's it going.
A buddy of mine has recently planted four seedlings, they are a month old and have just been transplanted to 5 gal pots.
They receiving 14 hours hours of direct sunlight outside.
In height they are almost at 1ft tall.
They will be vegged for 4 more weeks.
I'm not very familiar with outdoor grows, so my question is how will they go from veg to flower? Would he cut down the hours of sunlight from 14 to 12?
Or would he let them veg until daylight savings?
By cutting down the hours of sunlight I mean simply putting them inside ( dark closet etc.) after they have received 12 hours.
Any help from you Ganga wizards would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I'm in the same situation as you, the best answer I came to was Auto-flowering (for next time :))

You ccan cover them or bring them in to make 12 hours of dark for an early harvest or just let them go. They will flower as egrower says usually. This is also strain dependent though. Some pure sativas will sometimes not flower until september.

Just let them grow, they will flower when the sunlight hours/day signal them to flower. Chillax, grab a PBR and take a few rips.

I got a little confused with the many answers here, what is the reason for flower:

The change of the days' length from getting longer to getting short ?
or
Simply the number of hours of light ?
or
Compilation of everything, strain, watering, etc etc ?

More plants = higher risk if caught up. Big sativas actually blend in with nature. lots of autos will look out of place because of the larger vegetation surrounding them.

What Fresno farmer ^^^^^^^^^^^^ said. It's an annual, just love and cherish it ( not too much love ) and it will flower later this summer. Then chop that bitch down, dry her and cure her.

I take the simple approach and let both Sol and Mother Nature do the work for me- I can't see how moving plants indoors would effect sexing in outdoor plants by more than a week or two (though I have never tried). Especially now that we're coming up on the Summer Solstice, I would let the plants be.

I can confirm what Miko2 stated above- last year I had a sativa that did not flower until late August. By that point it looked like a Christmas tree! Ended up with a big (for me) yield of about 10 oz in early November, not counting the baby nodules at the bottom of the plant.
