I've seen some sick grows on the farm with these, but I'm not interested until they can go bare vert.

They need 40"+ clearance from canopy at 1150. If you don't sog or scrog they may not work with 8ft ceilings but, that is about the only drawback.. Plants also need to be feed a little more.
They can cover a 4X6 footprint with ease and I have even seen them kill on a light rail. growitbest has them for around 460$ on singles and they do 12 for 5280$ free shipping.
36plants per light can easily get you 3 per. 16 per light vegged 2 weeks can get you a gpw pretty
easily.
You only have to get new bulbs once a year so they are cheap when factor that in.

Double ended lamps don't have much on a good setup with your typical e37 mogul.
I said not much because a good hid setup runs at high frequency, same as gavita.
A good hid setup runs low thd (this is where the double ended lamp shines a little better)
With a e37 mogul the electrodes have to run parallel to one another, the dual ended does not. This surely creates a more quality light but is it all that much better than conventional high freq ballast and e37 mogul. Slight edge is all there would be in my opinion but hey, I don't design lights for a living.

Headroom, like slumdog said. Do you have the ceiling for the Govita? If so, I'd get em.

I think so. They are by other lights and they are noticeably brighter so I put my favs under those. lol.

im thinking of going with the gavita se 600 which is going for like $350.
Lots of amazing grows being done over on the farm with these double ended bulb setups.
plus they can be cooled with these hoods.
Thing is if you are worried about trying to cool your light rather then cooling your room then I would not think this is the right light.

Why wld anyone want the ballast connected... so close to the hood? I don't even try to keep up all this leading-edge tech. I try to wait until all the kinks are worked out.
