Real Dr. Greenthumb Genetics

I haven't actually smoked it yet, as I am just getting up and running at my new location after a year or so off from growing.

Based on everything I've ever grown, I've never been as impressed as I am with the Bubba OG AND his Headband. There is definitely a variation in pheno types, but the keepers are definitely 'Picassos'.

I have two phenos of the Headband, one leans on the ECSD side and has bigger fluffier colas forming, and the other which I think is my keeper has more of an OG Kush structure with the most sour stink I've ever smelled. They have thrown a nanner here and there, but I had a light leak, I picked them off, fixed the leak(s) and they haven't returned.

The Bubba OG is something else though, I popped four and ended up with two phenos. The one isn't anything super impressive, but I still have over a month till they are done, so time will tell. The one that is pictured in my last post smells like sweet bubblegum/lemons/earthy kushness and even at 80degrees the top buds are turning a little purple. The nugs are almost the size of baseballs.

So I hear lots of great things about DrGT from people I trust. But, at the same time, I read some of his descriptions of strains and they simply do not mesh with what I would expect to hear based on everything I've ever read about them. Trainwreck in particular.
That's because other breeders/banks attach a sales pitch to them. Doc selfed the real deal, he claims they are s1 arcatia cut, so no other description is needed-thats what they are form my understanding. I would be leary of any company who describes their strains like a fine wine-especially since almost every strain has variations in pheno types and different environments can change how they are expressed. I feel like I can actually believe the info on his website, all the other sites/breeders/banks feel like 'big business' compared to the doc. I'm a low key guy that doesn't like bullshit- the only site/breeder that fits that description is dr. gt.

I have the original Kali Mist from serious, I have two mothers of it. It's from around 2000. I'm running different stuff right not that Kali Mist is my favorite strain of all time, it just takes forever to properly finish-12+ weeks.
I lost a mom 5 or 6 years ago from an original pack. She took 100'ish days to finish, but was hands down my favorit smoke. well worth the wait every time. That's great that you still have it around. I really miss that smoke. What a gem

Pm me, if your close your more then welcome to a free cut. My friend who recently moved ran it exclusively for years. He called me and said, 'hey do you want this kali mist?' I couldn't say no!

Hands down my favorite strain for the day time-Good jack herer comes a close second.

i have a friend on here who's growing km atm stow..
i went over his place, and i hadn't smoked in over a month or so.. he handed me an almost full j, and said to me, for some reason, no one ever finishes a whole j of km...
i smoked about 2/3rds of it or so before put it down for good.. after i left his place, i got so fucking lost on my way home. i had 3 turns before i made it back on the highway where i'd know where i was ... i had to stop and ask for directions about 5 different times.. i'd get about a mile down the road and say, fuck, did they say a right or left at that last stop sign?? i was so screwed.. then i would see someone getting into a car and start the whole fiasco over again.. thankfully the last dude was like, well, i could give you a short cut, but you'd get lost, juts follow this road and you'll run into the highway you're looking for...

Lol! That's great

It's probably the closest thing to an opiate type buzz I've found. Very blissful, made any monotonous task seem like fun. The flowering time kinda makes it head stash stuff, but I would really like to find another keeper similar to it

lol the worst part was i couldn't find my cell before i had to leave and pick him up, and it got to the point that i simply had to leave without finding it, or i was going to be super late at our meet up point, and i really hate to be late for anything, so the entire ride home i didn't have my gps to go by..

Anyone who knows trainwreck knows it's a hermie prone annoying as fuck to grow mess of a plant. What he's presenting looks pretty much nothing like what I'd expect to hear/see (the picture alone.. beautiful structure... ). Hey, IDK - I don't see many folks disappointed in his gear. I actually have an Iranian x Haze and Iranian x OG in my tent right now that did not make it outside. So we'll see how they turn out.

As far as being low key. Both Sannies and PeakseedsBC are much more so. They don't advertise - at all. Nor do they claim every strain they have is more potent than AK-47 or White Widow. And they charge prices a small fraction of what the Doc does. And they do actual breeding, not just selfing elite cuts.

I will tell you what bothers me...

The picture on his website under the Iranian Og is actually Dr. Grubers Bubba OG, so that is a little weird/shady...

For someone like me on the east coast, those elite s1s are the best and the reason I went with him. You have to pheno hunt and find the keepers-but what strains are really that stable these days?

Selfing those elites is something not everyone has been able to do.

I really like how fast you get orders too, that is the real reason I dig him. I hate waiting weeks to get gear that might be confiscated or never make it.

Yeah, GREAT daytime meds. I just got up and running at my new location so I need a quick harvest or two before I decide to run something that takes 100+ days.

Here is a quote from DrGT on different site about his Trainwreck...

"We did a lot of selections to make sure it as good and as stable as it could be."

So thats weird he would state that if they were just S1's of Arcatia cut. I missed the mail yesterday but my Chem 4s are in town but there going on the back burner with my GG4 S1s stepping in place of them...

Yea you can't "do a selection" on a single clone. That simply doesn't make sense
I'm a musician not a scientist but apparently, according to scientists at Oxford University, "new" traits, good or bad, can be observed in plants reproduced from tissue culture and by extension clones, so I suppose it is possible to have Trainwreck clones that do, or do not, exhibit hermie tendencies.

Got any links? I'd be interested to read about that.

To do "selections" to me means he selfed the plant once, went through the offspring and probably feminized the original with another s1. Not exactly an s1 at that point, no?

Otherwise I stand by my statement of it doesn't make sense. Because it really can't if it's a simple S1.

I don't doubt that this is true but how big are the variations? My guess would be so minute that you would need to tell by testing DNA, and that to the avg farmer would have a hard time telling any difference at all. The change would have to take a long time to mutate to different climates or conditions to be visible to the eye.

Therefore, saying doctor flowered many clones off the same mother to select the best one to make s1's with doesn't seem possible and if that was his quote would be utter bullshit.

Sorry, I don't want to bore anyone but I just have to say this.

I work in the music business and I've been hearing this for years. Cypress Hill and the fake Dr. Greenthumb are in business together, so of course Cypress Hill "endorse" the fake Dr Greenthumb strains.

It's a classic David and Goliath story where big money, (Cypress Hill and the fake Dr. GreenThumb) have been trying to steal the name of the little guy (Dr. Greenthumb) for years. I looked it up today just to check. The fake Dr. GreenThumb apparently with Cypress Hill money tried to Copyright the name Dr. Greenthumb in 2001. That failed so Cypress Hill tried to copyright the song name to steal the Dr. Greenthumb name through the back door. That is pending.

I bought my first pack of seeds from Dr. Greenthumb Seeds Canada back in about 1995 after meeting Doc in Amsterdam. Doc IMO is a straight up, honest guy. I have met him twice again in Sligo when he was here for Sligo live and once again at a session at the Cobblestones in Dublin. Check for yourselves, Drgreenthumb.com has been around since 1998 before anyone heard of Cypress Hill.

I'll say it again. From what I'm seeing the fake Dr. Greenthumb is selling so-so seeds at a low price and the real Dr. Greenthumb sells stellar genetics at a higher price, so it's a matter of choice but I don't like the fact the fake Dr. Greenthumb and Cypress Hill are ganging up on the real Dr. Greenthumb and trying to steal his hard-earned name with a concerted effort to fool the community.
98? No dude...

"Black Sunday is the second album by rap group Cypress Hill. It was released on July 20, 1993. (ironically or not, that's a few months after my first time smoking!) It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 selling 261,000 copies in its first week, recording the highest Soundscan for a rap group at the time." -Wiki

I was listening to Cypress Hill for at least 5 years before '98. I probably learned of them through cannabis culture, not rap culture. Never been much of a rap fan (but some rap is actually quite good), more of a metalhead... but i don't genre-discriminate when music is good. Unless it's gospel (lol).
