I'm intolerant of intolerant people - does that make me a hypocrite?

He's mad good. In a completely different vein (sort of existential comedy?) you should look up "Smoke" --both William Hurt and Harvey Keitel... probably my favorite Keitel performance. Fun film, very dialogue driven... Jim Jarmusch... just so much fun to watch really, because the dialogue all feels so cheeky and genuine.

Also: This thread is completely derailed. (You're welcome.)
Keitel eh? I think I was a little traumatized by him in the orig "Bad Lieutenant". Just like 5 mins of strait up cock-and-ballz starting into the camera.

That being said, usually I quite like him. He played an excellent "Wolf".

Yeah that's a good thing.

I can't believe the shit in Europe sometimes. Being a soccer fan I always keep
up on the news. In Italy this past year the fans were rocking swastikas and anti Jewish banners at the games, and throwing bananas and making monkey sounds at the black players. Freaking nuts.

Just a few days ago a bunch of German fans showed up at the Germany vs Ghana World Cup match with their faces painted all black and t shirts that said GHANA on 'em.

Then another dude ran onto the field during a game with swastikas all over his headband.

Fucking crazy bastards.
About 50 countries in Europe and because some nut job germans with the left-overs of their nazi history and italians with their fascist history do stupid stuff like that you tar entire "Europe" with the same brush... That's exactly how those dumb racists think too. Speaking of hypocrite...

Was it even actually meant to be racist from those germans? Painting your face black is considered racist because that's what it actually was in the US (minstrel shows...).

Back in the day everyone wanted to look like Ruud Gullit. I've been to countries on for me the other side of the world where they'd sell Ruud Gullit wigs and people would paint their face black during the world championship... out of support.

SIDEBAR: there is some construction or something going on in my neighbourhood - but for some strange reason every time I hear the loud screeching sound all I can think of is the Vampire's in "40 days of night" or perhaps a Pterodactyl...

Maybe I shouldn't watch a scary movie quite yet....hahaha

Shut up. Don't try to act like that isn't racist. Europe is full of it.

Spoken like a true bigot.
How am I suddenly a bigot, what the hell is your problem? You're the one defending racism! Italy's stadiums have banners in them full of hate, dude. And they're allowed to stay up during the game. Sure there's racists everywhere, but I guarantee you won't see an NFL game (biggest sport in the states) where that's allowed to happen.

Haha... I didn't watch Keitel's Bad Lt... I've seen the newer one Nicholas Cage did though... :feelsbadman: remarkably watchable considering how bad it made me feel to witness his behavior, heh.

@Sativied and @bu$hleaguer - I bet you guys both hate racists.
Probably right but labeling millions of people as racists because of some idiots isn't helping anything. It's like saying all americans are homo-haters because of one messed up family from some backward shit-hole walking around with signs.

I never said it was or wasn't racist what those germans did, I asked, because although I know it's hard to see that for an american, blackface does not always equal racism. Inappropriate, stupid, fucking retarted, yes, racism, not necessarily.

Racism: prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.

You're the one defending racism!
I guess in a way you're right. I'm defending the appropriate use of the word racism. I know you like to point your finger based on what the media tells you to make you feel better about the abundance of racism in your own country.

Europeans are some of the most bigoted people I've ever met, especially when it comes to the USA. I have known very very very few that did not base their opinions on anything other than propaganda and claimed it all as fact. When presented with actual evidence in a discussion they scream their propaganda louder as if that were to make it true, and in the end show their ignorance of the Western world. They ignore their own history and the true evils of the world, labeling America as "worse than Hitler and Nazi Germany".

And I say Europe, because it's not just one or two countries that share this broad view (a few scattered individuals don't share these beliefs).

All of what I've said has come from my experience in actually dealing with people residing in European countries. Not media or propaganda, but actual conversations with people. No I haven't spoken to every single person there, but it's 1 out of every 100 or so that doesn't blame us for everything that is wrong in the world.

Fair enough, let's agree to
disagree then. Since I feel that people going blackface to a game with GHANA written on their shirts is racist and you feel like it's normal. Fair enough, we obviously disagree.

Not sure what you're defending dude, but you certainly are making yourself look like you're accepting of racism.

So blackface isn't racism? These aren't either then I'm guessing:

And certainly this one must be something other than racism too, huh:
