I love growing with dwc and would really like to grow a few clones under a 150w hps. is it smart to use dwc or should i use a different hydro method to flower rooted clones right after rooting?

I would go no smaller than the black 27 gallon tough tote from home depot... better to get a 2' x 4' flood table or res or something.

check out this dudes setup. he is using it for rooting clones... but you can use the same size net pots and everything... just do 6 instead of 35 for flowering space. You don't have to grow all 6 sites either if you want to grow bigger ones in the future with the same setup. Doesn't need the sprayers if you are just doing DWC. will need to light proof the yellow lid like he did.

man the tough tote was made for growing weed... I went to home depot a few months ago because I needed one, and they didn't have any... employee said some asshole bought like 7 of them.

wonder why :bigjoint:

The igloo cooler was made for growing weed.
The only problems with running multiple plants in the same dwc container would be when the roots entangle somewhere into veg and continue to tangle. Assumming you're running all known females that's fine , all you'll have to deal with is crowding and stunting of smaller plants since unless you do some canopy management they won't get light.
I just did two igloo coolers with 3 plants per cooler. My 303 pipe dream turned out one male one female, highly entangled root, not able to seperate SO it's f2 pipe dream seed for this guy! The more the merrier.

I have used 4 different coolers... 5 gallon gatorade style, and a few different rectangular shapes/sizes. I found they are expensive as fuck and don't hold temps as well as insulating a 5 gallon bucket or tough tote with 3+ layers of silver bubble wrap.

I don't think overcrowding would be an issue with 12/12 from rooted clone... train/scrog the canopy, and they are clones so no need to separate roots.

I use a 20 gal marine cooler with a soda door. They have a 6 day ice rating so temps stay stable with topping off everyday. No rez or chiller needed.

I don't think I could go back to maintaining individual buckets every day.

it doesnt bother me to top up the buckets each day. i feed once a week and follow with daily clean water top ups. i love dealing with the plants. i like to spend time each day examining them for any problems and seeing how they grow. ive never had more than one plant to deal with at one time so the idea of having a few going at one time is interesting to me.

Im the exact same way since im still learning. other day i checked them after work n realized they burned (nute burn). dumped out the water n gave half. saved myself some recovery time.

I can go two weeks without opening the door to my flower room. I use a lot of water so the ph/ppm drift is very slow and only need to top up once every 1-2 weeks. I do check every day though just to make sure lights/pumps are working, do some training, or just stare at them while I smoke a bowl. Especially in veg... I like watching the daily growth. Change the res like 2-3 times during flower. I rarely actually have to do anything though.

When I was running up to 8 five gallon buckets, everyday was change ice bottles, check ph, and possibly adjust ph, and top up. Weekly chore of changing the water in all 8 buckets and mixing up new solution. Hard to take a vacation that way.
