Brilliant idea for automated grow room.

This is just an idea that i had and have no plans for it in the near future. I just want other peoples thoughts and ideas on it. My idea would be to have a partially automated soil grow by using a small computer to monitor an control it from anywhere in the world. The basic idea would be one computer with many cameras set up to see everything thats going on in the room, computer controlled fan, humidity, and temperature, lighting, as well as watering and maybe nuts if you could find a way to do that. This would all be controllable from the computer which would then controllable from anywhere in the world with internet connection.

nice, I just searched for other people talking about this subject, and one was just started.

I try to get my code perfect when I'm writing a program, so sometimes it takes me a little longer then normal, but I'm hoping it will be useful and very reliable. I think I'll make it open source and sell ready to use hardware for it. I have all the parts sitting around, and can get more at good prices. just a matter of putting it all together. I'll be posting the first demo soon.

Just toss one of these at it. PLC Units Products Or these: Programmable Relays Hey lorenzo, you have a source for pH sensors for full time immersion? Analog, resistive, or 4-20ma output?
I always love industrial parts. I'm hoping to come up with a system that's reliable and useful, and the average grower can easily set it up with no electronics knowledge.

for the ph sensor, I was thinking of getting a cheap one off ebay with an analog display. I can build a resistive sensor easy enough, but the parts and time probably add up to more then what's ready made on ebay. besides, I'd end up frying it if I made one. should be able to connect the analog tester to my interface card with very little modification. 4 analog inputs, 0 to 5v.
