A little less stressed out.

So, for the last few months I've been jobless and stressing out about making my share of the bills.

Last night my wife and I (technically my girlfriend. We've been together long enough that I consider ourselves married, but we're not legally married) had a discussion on what to do. Well long story short, we've decided that it would be best if I just stayed at home and took care of the animals. We have a lot of animals, and some of them have special needs so she worries about them constantly.

Of course anything aside from basic living expenses I'll have to pay for on my own, which is fine by me. I've started tearing down pallets and gotten into making small furniture so I'll be able make enough for my small little wants and needs. But the important thing here is that I'm not going to end up homeless anytime soon.

I can't tell you guys how much of a relief this is.

haha some more good news.

Just landed a part time job at a hardware store.

The pays minimum wage, but I'll be getting a 20% discount. Plus since it's part time, I'll be able to take care of the animals as well as work. 6 - 8 hour shifts a 3 days a week. I'll also be working on my wife's days off, so when I'm not at home she will be.

Cant you just say no...? Its a therapist not a po.

If I refuse, they'll kick me from the program and I won't be able to get my meds. Gotta play their game in order to get what I need.

Trust me if I had a choice, I would just show up for the pills once every few months, but that's not an option.

I was just curious. Can you get another therapist?

I could, but it wouldn't do any good.

The mental health care around here is pretty much shit. One place refused to treat me unless I went to AA because I had a single drink on my 22nd birthday. Another place doubled my med dosage and then canceled further appointments, then there was the place that would only see me once every 6 weeks, the list goes on. I've already been to this place before and walked away. Since my recent stent in the psyche ward though, I figure it's best to put up with their BS.

They wouldn't even know I smoke if I hadn't been drug tested at the ER a few months ago.

Hopefully if I piss clean a few months they'll stop testing me and I can start smoking again. But I'll have to wait and see about that.

I know what it's like to be unemployed. It sucks. You have to scrimp and save. No eating out, no ordering in and the mental anguish is enough to drive you to drink. I hope you're able to find something to sustain you, your girl and your lifestyle. Part time at a hardware store even with the discount ain't gonna cut it.

Just give it a try. Don't skip the therapy either. :-) If you put some decent effort in, you'll better yourself. One day at a time dude. Glad you found a solution!
