Help with germination problems.

Hello rollitup! I've been a member for quite some time now, but just lurk most of the time. Forgot my old password so created a new account. Great to have such a great community of knowledge. I appreciate all the help.

Heres my problem, and before anyone starts in let me be the first to say I'm not blaming the genetics, but more so trying to figure out what I did wrong or what I could of done differently.

I popped two packs side by side. One was 11 Bodhi White Goji seeds, and the other was 7 OGraskal White Fire seeds. Both were put in paper towels to pop. The WiGo cracked in 18hrs while the WiFi took 36. After cracking they went straight into soil cups. The WiGo popped the surface in about 12hrs with 11for11. While after 48hrs in the medium there is still no sign of the WiFi.

Same room, same everthing.
The only difference I can see is that the shells on the WiFi were double the thickness of any seeds I've ever popped. That's all I can come up with. I've always had a very high germ rate, but am pretty much stumped about this.

I've waited a long time to have WiFi in my possession, I plan on ordering more and trying again. I would just like to figure this out first.

Has anyone ever experienced this with seed that have a thicker shell or are bigger in size? Any tips for seeds like this?

Its hard throwing away money but the hardest part is not knowing what those plants could of been if they were grown out. Thanks again riu!

you could have killed them if you were too rough taking them from the towel to the soil (young taproots are extremely fragile you shouldnt even ever touch them directly) my suggestion would be f**k the paper towels just throw them straight into dirt next time, and be patient its only been 36 hours you said could take 3 or 4 days

Hi and thanks for the reply I really appreciate the help. I understand root damage, drowning, and contaminants are a possibility when transferring them. Though I don't believe I have ever experienced that happening.

My problem is that I popped 11 different seeds right next to my wifi and all 11 came up, but not one wifi.

The 36 hrs was just to get them to cracked in paper towel, after that they have been in dirt for 48 more.

I have always had a good germination rate, i would consider close to 100%. I believe it might have to do with the thickness of the sell. The shell was very thick. Maybe it will take more time then im normal to. I think next time I will go directly to dirt and see what happens.

But for anyone who has had experience with wifi seeds. Do they all have a thick shell? How have you found best to germinate them? How long till they break ground? What kind of medium was used? I was thinking rapid rooters might work good....Idk thanks again all for the help.

I have had this happen too, what I do to prevent it, i leave them in the paper towel a little longer let the root get longer and stronger before planting it, the more healthy the root the better chance you have of your plant taking when you do put it into its growing medium. now adays i put the paper towel in a small humidity dome in the dark... the seeds pop fast and i leave them in there another day or so and then plant the seed with the top sticking above the soil about an inch.... leaves are open by the end of the day. Different strains are different, the other strain could be harder to grow, some trains dont sprout as easily and ive seen sprouting times vary from 8 hours to 3 days, if proper conditions are met, then its up to the strain, plant a strong healty sprout not a popped seed...

i actually leave my seeds in a wrag until the shell is about to pop off, the root should be strong enough for handling. i also use this method to stick them in a ez-rooter i see secondary roots in a few hours on seedlings this way.
