haha! grow it gay i love it! should have named this thread that. as for your situation (this is my first scrog as well) but if i read right it sounds like this is you first grow period. idk about doing a 12 plant scrog right out the gate. i would really really suggest grow a crop or two to get a feel for things without the added anxiety of a screen to fill out and maintain. you need to get well acquainted with what the plants need so that u will be able to tell if a problem is being caused by your scrog or nutes etc. may be real hard isolating a problem if u dont know what your looking for to begin with. that being said, if they are 36 day in already u need to be topping/LST'ing ASAP to get them to grow under and fill out a net. i topped my plants 6 times in their 9 week veg to get them good a bushy along with a lot of LST to get everything pointed in the right directionWe should start a "Grow it Gay" forum.... Lesbian here.
well thank u! yes its my first scrog as well so we're both learning here. and yes i have 5 plant under flower right now but will b cutting back to 4 plants. i can fill the screens out just as good with 4 given the proper training. my room is like 12'x12' i used panda film over top of a frame to section of my veg area. in the veg area everything grows in a 4x4 tray and once the plants get about 18-20" tall i put a small screen over them all (5x5') and fill that up. then after i harvest my plants that were flowering i remove the screen from the vegging plants and transfer them to my 4x8 flower tray with a net thats slightly taller about 22". i let them fill out the flower screen for a week or two then i flip them over to 12/12 and stopped training after day 6 in flower (should have trained the POG longer but i didn't expect the indica to out stretch the sativas) so my real goal i set is 1.7 gram per watt this winter. i think its to hot during the summer months but shouldn't be to bad of problem in the winter if i can pull 1.3 grams a watt by just growing Christmas trees. 1.5 gram a watt is what i need to see to make all the extra effort and what not that comes with a scrog but im happy to give it a go. from what i can see so far its definitely doable once the right phenos are found. by my November crop i should have a suitable POG pheno isolated. the Bub i have is just perfect for it. i could prob hit 1.5g/watt now if that was all i put in the nets, but i like variety too much so far the yield does not seem to have much to do with how many plants u have as much as how u fill up your net. 2 plants can produce as much as 20 if they both have the same canopy size, given enough veg time. (veg time is key for pulling large numbers with few plants)I'm very impressed. If you hit your goal you will be my new Idol! So let me get this straight, you're doing this with one 1000w hps and 5 plants? I'm so damn interested. What size room are you using? I'm working on my first Scrog and it kind of sucks compared to yours, I'm still learning the Scrog details but I'll be happy to get 12oz with the 6 plants I have going now wish I could reap a 1 g per Watt mark this time but I know I won't, 1.5 would be amazing. Anyways, I'm subbed, good luck!
Had I been knowledgeable about this plant before I decided to pop 12 seeds... I probably would have strongly agreed with you.haha! grow it gay i love it! should have named this thread that. as for your situation (this is my first scrog as well) but if i read right it sounds like this is you first grow period. idk about doing a 12 plant scrog right out the gate. i would really really suggest grow a crop or two to get a feel for things without the added anxiety of a screen to fill out and maintain. you need to get well acquainted with what the plants need so that u will be able to tell if a problem is being caused by your scrog or nutes etc. may be real hard isolating a problem if u dont know what your looking for to begin with. that being said, if they are 36 day in already u need to be topping/LST'ing ASAP to get them to grow under and fill out a net. i topped my plants 6 times in their 9 week veg to get them good a bushy along with a lot of LST to get everything pointed in the right direction
LST stands for low stress training meaning u can tie down branches or like me, use wire to hold the branches exactly where u want them to be. it is essential to get the plants trained to grow horizontally instead of vertically to place a screen on themHad I been knowledgeable about this plant before I decided to pop 12 seeds... I have a massive background in plant biology.. and specialize in bugs. Dang.. dont know what LSTing.. means.. but I guess I will figure it out. The plants are crazy bushy right now.. but what does that really mean? Who knows... I have never seen a living pot plant before I started growing it.. so when I think its bushy.. it may not be.. as I have nothing to draw from..

its a scrog still if u train it on the net, the point of a scrog is to get multiple main tops, which can really only be achieved with topping. cut the top of the plant off and that turns into 2 then cut again and they turn into 4 then 8 and so on.... if it were me i would chop the tops off now before u switch to 12/12 (i have topped plants up to 2 weeks into flower) if u do that they will stretch into the screen in early flower and you've most likely doubled your yield and made decent use of the screen. i hope that made sense and helped a littleahh... Ok.. I am not going to do that. I am putting the screen over them... its a 2x2 foot screen. So maybe its not a scrog? The screen is 10 inches above the pot.. (air pot, and there is a reason this works so much better in an air pot), and I put it in this pot when it can just barely touch the screen. I plan on flipping it to 12 /12 in two days. The growth on the plants is crazy. As you can see, their main stems are as fat as screw drivers and they aren't even 8 inches tall yet. Fan leaves are bigger than my entire hand.
Between four and five feet tall. The trellis they fill in is four feet wide by six and a quarter feet tall, for a total of twenty five square feet.ttystikk... how tall were the plants before you put them into flower?
Holy cow!Between four and five feet tall. The trellis they fill in is four feet wide by six and a quarter feet tall, for a total of twenty five square feet.
sound like ur just like me, i find it very entertaining to try and max out any certain square footage. 2 lights, 7 lbs that sounds about right, i would think with a vertical system 10lbs wont be too much of a stretch for you, works out to about 2.2 grams/watt, not shabby!Back to the original topic for a moment, I've already grown a single plant on a vertical ScrOG trellis that reached 2 1/2lbs. It shares a round cylinder shaped trellis with three other plants its size, all huddled around two lamps; either thousand watt HPS or 860W CDM lights. My best around two lights thus far is about seven, plus trim that gets blown down for even more income. I believe I can hit ten with practice, training, dialing in, strain specific tricks, the usual.
