Well, the deer struck again, so I'm down to one from my original seven. But, she's looking healthy. I hope she makes it and I'm able to pull at least a few ounces. Next year I'll take better precautions against the deer.

Here's my one surviving plant. The seed sprouted around May 15th, so it's approx 65 days post-germination. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I had to dig up the plant and move it to a new location about ten days ago. A lot of the lower leaves yellowed and fell off, but it seems to have mostly recovered since then. Any opinions? What do you guys think? Male or female? Does it look more sativa or indica? I'm guessing indica, but I could be wrong. It was just some old bag seed. I'm a little worried about the close proximity to my house (it's in a clearing in a heavily wooded area approx 20 yards north of my house). If someone were to find it or it gets spotted by a helicopter, I'm screwed. But, the other location just wasn't going to work. I've tied fishing line up around the area to deter deer -- they are thick here. So far, I haven't noticed any tracks.
Also, what would you guys recommend as far as pest control? I've noticed a few places nibbled off the leaves.
What about nutes? The only thing I've given it so far is some rabbit droppings mixed into the soil at transplant ten days ago.

Alright man... Since this is your last plant left I highly suggest you do your best to keep it alive. You really need to buy some fence to put around your plant. It doesn't have to be a huge barrier, just big enough to surround it and maybe 3 ft tall. Don't let the deer get this one

The picture is kind of far away to get a 100% identification, but it looks like it could be a female. Next time you're there get a close up on the nodes so you can be sure.

Your plant looks relatively healthy, but it could definitely use some nitrogen. She's looking a little light green. Most growers on this site will recommend something organic, but truthfully almost any general purpose fertilizer will work. If you go with a chemical fert like miracle grow I highly suggest you start with a half strength dose so you don't burn "her".

To answer a few of your other questions and concerns; it's almost impossible to tell what you've got in terms of strain. The leaves are short and fat so I'd say its more indica dominate, but it's likely a hybrid of the two.

Also, I wouldn't worry about helicopters. It's one plant and a relatively small one at that. I doubt police could even pick it out, let alone bother you about it if they did find it.

Your plant looks good though despite the hell you said it's gone through. Go get her some nutes. If you go with MG like Blackvalor said then go with the tomato formula. I think it's like 18 - 18 - 21 npk. You could push it strait through flower with just that and it'll be fine. Or if you can find it there's Jacks Classic. Both are fairly cheap but MG can be found anywhere. They also have a Bloom Booster that's very cheap as well. It's like 15 - 30 - 15 I think. A dose or 3 of that through flowering would do it good. Can't go wrong with $5 per box of nutes. If you even yield 1/2 a gram more due to them those 2 just paid for themselves.

You just have to take precautions and deter them from the plants or condition them to stay away from the area your plants are in. Usually the deer around here won't mess with mine come mid to late June when they have plenty of fruit to eat.
This is my back yard and I've only lost one to a deer this year and that was because it stomped it into the ground. This is only about half that roam around the yard at dusk and dawn.View attachment 3172771

Lol.. I don't hunt much these days. However, my cousin that lives next door does. I've had venison steaks and tenderloins at least once a week since October. Haha

we shoot alot of deer here on the island and a few moose if they are in my swamp which keeps them away for the most part, rabbits are our biggest problem the little bastards like to just bite the stems in half and not eat anything just kill plants

I've had some problems with rabbits too. My daughter gets pissed if I shoot them but they're so over populated right now that I'm going to have to take a few out when shes not home. They don't really have any real predators around here.

Well, it's been a couple weeks since I last posted. My plant has grown quite a bit in that short time. At least a foot. Maybe more. I'm feeding now with Jack's Classic 20-20-20 like MonkeyGrinder recommended. I'm also using some organic Sevin Dust to help with pests. Considering what it's been through (eaten back to the ground by deer and then transplanted), I'm pretty happy with how it's doing. I've got it corded off with fishing line to try to keep the deer away. Lots of pet hair and urine around it too. Seems to be working, although I did see about ten deer less than 100 feet away from it a couple days ago. Luckily, they didn't bother it. It's approx 80 days post-germination. I'm about 90% sure it's female. Looking at it, I don't see anything that resembles "balls". Lots of hair-like structures, though.

Sounds like you got it all under control.. one piece of advice though- don't use the dust once your plants start flowering because it becomes trapped in the flower. I use the dust sometimes during veg if I need to and neem oil throughout the grow. Good luck with the rest of the grow season!

Looking good. If you're seeing hairlike structures then those would be pistils. Maybe get a good closeup photo of these so we can help identify that for you?
Other than that though you did good on that plant. Just keep doing what you're doing and you'll have some good smoke in a couple of weeks. Then you'll be making bigger plans for 2015. It's like a bug.
So are you planning on switching over to Jack's Bloom Booster or just riding it out with Classic?

I swear, my camera hates me when I try to take up-close pics. It doesn't want to cooperate. I snatched a few, though. Not sure if you can tell anything by looking at them, but it's the best I could do with my phone. (The white stuff is sevindust.)

Yeah it'll work just fine and dandy the way you're doing it. Most people like to cut down on their N and bump up the P-K. Personally I switch after stretch and when I start seeing crowns where the buds are forming. From my observations stretch burns through N like no ones business. Not sure if yours have went into stretch yet or not. It'sthat time of the season though so they should be stretching or about to go into it.
Looks like a set of pistils on that very top node there in the bigger bottom photo.

I found out the hard way years ago before I became a member of RIU. I thought that it would dissolve when it rained but apparently it isn't water soluble.
The neem oil is hard to find in my area.. all they carried was either sevin dust or pyrethrin powder until recently I finally found some neem oil concentrate at Lowe's. It was like $12 for 32 oz.

Forget the fencing it just makes them more visible to everyone especially eyes in the sky. Just spend a bit more time scouting locations looking for deer activity. Nearby water/ food sources and deer usually don't stray far from established trails.

Hey, just giving another update for those of you following this sad little plant's story Here we are on August 24th. It's been 101 days since germination. It's definitely a female. Whew! She's almost five feet tall now, but not as thick and bushy as I would like. I have no idea what to expect for the yield, but it will probably be small. Would be happy with an ounce or two, but not getting my hopes up. But for my first grow, it's been a fun experience. Hopefully next year will be better. I'm already scouting out new locations and learning from my mistakes.

I've had to remove several of the lower leaves from yellowing and brown spots. I'm not sure if this is normal, but the top leaves seem to be doing fine. I'm still giving in Jack's Classic 20-20-20 once a week. It's been near 100 degrees this week, so I've been giving her a couple gallons of water a day.

So, we're in the final stretch. Is harvest time usually mid-October?
