Man, fuck utility companies. They can charge whatever they want, and if you don't like it, what can you do? They only have one company per area. Seems kind of like a monopoly doesn't it? It's fucked up. Fuck those dicklickers.
thats why nikola tesla died

I was at $900 for 4 1000s and a ac on 24/7
Pretty crazy but you get used to it and it pays off.
Started out a few years ago with 1-600. Then, the cost increased by 10% on my utility bill, which brought it to a wopping $100. Now I am running a total 3500 watts, in 3 rooms for a perpetual. I would never grow in the summer before because of heat, but now, due to economics( it is what I do for a living), I said fuck it and started to use an indoor AC unit which cost $650, ( a 10,000 BTU Whynter). My bill this month was $491 in CT. If you sell, just incorporate into the price, and bit the bullet, or better yet, let your customers bite it. Just grow good shit, and you will never lose money. It is a sellers market, as long as you have the customers Peace

My power bill is usually about $70. It Jumped up to $212!! so $142 extra.
My setup:
- 600W Mh for veg now in flower hps....does mh use more kwh then hps?
- booster fan running on max 240cfm
-oscillating fan on max
-floor fan on max
- floor fan intake on max

That was the heavy month for veg 18/6 cycle now on 12/12 flower. Power shud be less....I'm planning on turning down max settings by a notch ( 3 to 2 setting on fans except booster) and getting rid of intake fan and adding 16in wall mount oscillating fan.

Do I need a fan for intake or can I use passive? I have hole in wall 1ftx1ft (intake)

I'm hoping next month's bill will be $150 or less.
It's the fan's bro I got a reading from my kill-a-watt meter of my floor fan pulling 170watts and it sounds like you have a lot of fans.

18k watts, 9 tons of AC

14/10 and the power bill is $2100

So let me just say this..your $200 power bill isn't even a blip on the radar.

Ya I figured. I'm thinking about adding another 600w or 1k to my setup after this grow. :bigjoint:
Go BIG or go home. hehe

Happy growing!

winter rates are 0.14 and summer rates are 0.22.......sigh.

last month I used 350 kwh this month it jumped to 730 kwh an icreaese of 380kwh...is this correct for running 1 600w 18/6 (24hrs first week) with 4 fans on full blast???
Here's the math:
600w/hour = .6kwh
.6kwh x 24 hours = 14.4kwh/day
14.4kwh x 7 days (your first week running 24 hours) = 100.8kwh.
.6kwh x 18 =10.8 kwh on days running 18/6
10.8 x 23 (number of days in the month on 18/6 cycle) =248.4kwh.

100.8kwh + 248.4 kwh = 349.2kwh for just the 600w lamp.

So your fans are pulling approx 30kwh per month.

Fuck! I just got a letter in the mail today from my power co. in Mi. Smart Meter coming in the next few weeks! What a joke - opt-out is $70 then $10 every month and they STILL install a new smart meter with the "radio off" i.e. - "non-transmitting". It's a non-choice really, isn't it? They keep tightening the grid, folks and ain't shit we can do about it, is there?? Of course it's about making them more $$ and control - not saving us! Use more power than your neighbors and they will "tier" you a new hole in your pocket! FuuuuuuucccckYoooou

And.. it all should make your exact usage (via the RF signal) easy for certain uniformed azzholes to record. I stopped listening to Alex Jones years ago but this is a conspiracy so in your face it should piss everyone off. Besides all the malfunctioning, fires, health concerns on record out there since they started installing these! Anybody that has had one of these meters installed i'd love to hear your thoughts...

Well, it may lower your power bill? In out region, and most..you can sign up for a time of use meter and pay discounted rates for power used when demand is low. Ergo...at night.

Saves me about $250/month

Tell them you have a couple kilns in the basement. They pull 4-5kw each

Nah its shit..Its set up to more accurately measure your usage and overcharge you for what you use over an average. they say you can request some sorta off peak power plan if you spend more than $200 a month. Again its a scam

solar power in a great investment. my g/fs parents use to pay $550/ month on power now they pay about $100!! Its a great long term investment if you can afford it.
This is also the smartest way to not have to pay new taxes for trying to sell electric back to the utility companies.. get just enough solar panels to cut or eliminate your own usage. Why invest in too big of a system when the price keeps dropping and the quality is rising? especially until they fix the wires so you can go both ways with the power...

That's good, I usually assume about 150 a month per light the. Like another 350 for my 10k ac running full blast all month.
I think at .12 kwh and 12 hours with a 1k light is $40 a month which is $280 for 7k alone, now throw I'm also using 14k portable and 5 inline fans and 4 box fans. Plus normal household shit and fees equals about 7 to 800 which i can live with. But I'm doing every thing different this next run and stepping up to a 10k run. I'm going to start veg at 18 hours and gradually work my way down to 9 hours to see what I yield. This will be my first time playing with the light hours. But from my understanding a 10 K run should yield 15 lbs if done right. If im going to make a living doing this i need to step my game up..

Just for Referance.. I put a Kill a Watt ( lets you check the cost of the power an items uses) on my main line to my grow to check power cost. At 18/6 with a 400wh HPS a 275CF inline fan for the cool tube, a Med Large fan on high and Med Osolating fan on low it is 15.50 a Month. My KW are .055 pw.
