Goober's First Grow - Soil LED 240w

So its a three part nutrient kit, right? So it'll say on the back how much you use _____ of each one for ______ amount of water. So you take _____ amount of water (usually a gallon or a half gallon depending on how much water they need for their current stage of growth), then you add in the correct dosage of each type of nute. Then stir.

so for example, 1 tsp/gal of grow, .5 tsp/gal of micro, and .5 tsp/gal of bloom. Then mix them all in a gallon of water, then water the plants. Hope that made sense. Lol

Yeah that made sense. That's what I ended up doing, I just didn't know if each individual plant needed 1 tsp/ .5 tsp/ etc. or if I could just mix it all together and then water as needed. I mixed it all in a gallon and then stirred and emptied the gallon between the 4 plants.

EDIT: The schedule for week 3 says 6 tsp Bloom and 3 tsp Grow Big. So I did half of that (3 tsp Bloom and 1.5 tsp Grow Big). Last time I attempted nutes, it was astronomically wrong - Like... I had the biggest blonde moment of my life wrong.

Completely ignore the week count part of the chart. :3 start doses off low and adjust as needed. you probably shouldn't be using nutes yet if you're using happy frog soil, not quite sure on how much fertilizer it has though. But they're still pretty young for full feeding. They look great though, btw. :33 I'm super amped for you

UPDATE #2 FOR TODAY
So... A lot happened today :3 Here we go.

• I went out and bought a bunch of 4" ducting so I would have enough (no matter what!)
• I bought bungees to hold the filter/fan up.
• Bought Perlite - which seems to be the hardest shit in the world to find for me around here.
• Bought another 7" mini fan for internal air circulation
  • Also got two 6" clip fans to help circulate.
• Bought a watering can, some gardening gloves, and a Hand Trowel (to help with transplanting).

Those are the things I purchased. Now for what I did in the tent (with PICTURES). All photos were taken after feeding, transplanting, installation, etc.)

• I installed the Carbon Filter and Exhaust fan and used ventilation to lead it out of the grow tent and into the room.
  • 
• I moved the plant that was near the edge of the bucket to the middle of the bucket.
  • Plant 1
• I transplanted one of the sprouts that was still sharing a bucket into a 5 gallon smart pot.
  • Plant 2 (After transplanting plant 3, I moved this one into the middle of the bucket)
  • Plant 3 (This was the one that was transplanted to the smart pot)
    • The soil mixture was about 15-20% vermiculite in the bottom half of the bucket. And the rest of it is half/half Perlite/Sta-Green Organic Soil (if that makes sense).
• And here is Plant 4, for shits and giggles.
  • Plant 4
• All plants are now in their own container. Hopefully the transplanting went well and we'll see how they are doing once they get reestablished in the soil. Moving every one of them was terrifying, btw

And I can't update without having a question at the end

As you can see, the smart pots and 5 gallon buckets are different heights. Is this a problem for growing or will they just grow at different rates? I could find something to set the smart pots on to make them all an even height maybe?

And lastly, is my light at a good height for the vegetative stage? I haven't properly measured it because I didn't add the light hangers until week 2. Should they go lower or is it good where it's at?

It looks like it's at an okay height. 18" is the usual I think, hard to tell through a pic. And yeah, you're gonna want to elevate the smart pots with something water proof. The setup is lookin guud.
might wanna start thinking about LST options, and supplemental lighting down the road.

I was afraid you'd say that haha. Now to scavenge for something that makes them an equal height...

I thought in one of your pics I noticed you might be leaching, or something like that. It's caused when the led is too low. I could be wrong, but it is an led issue. You look good other then that.

Another thing, you might want to buy the cheap medical gloves for when you are in flowering. That way after you have handled the girls, you can take the gloves off carefully, throw them in the freezer, and when they freeze, snap the gloves and everything that comes off is like hash. Collect it up and you have some real green Crack, lol.

Spent the weekend out of town. I fed and watered them prior to leaving Friday night and I got back Sunday night. These pictures were taken at 12:01 am Sunday.

That's some nice node spacing, super tight. The problem with my grow right now is its outside so have huge spacing. Then again the plants are 4-5' tall, and I didn't top enough.

Hello everyone!

I've been reading posts on here for a while now and decided it was time to create an account! And it happened just as I'm beginning my first attempt at growing. So.... Here goes...

The majority of my stuff is being shipped to me as I type so this is only my initial plan for now.

Here is a brief rundown of the supplies I'm planning on using. Please please PLEASE feel free to add input.

Light: 7-Band 240w LED from HTG Supply

Soil: Fox Farms Happy Frog Organic Soil. [I'm mixing in Perlite for ~30% of the medium]
*** I also read recently that with LEDs and low heat, there is not enough evaporation of water so I heard to make the perlite mix about 50%? Any thoughts?***
Nutrients: General Hydroponics GO Box

As of now, those are what I have purchased. I'm not sure what type of fan or anything I'm going to use. But my funds are running low so if anyone knows where I can get a cheap fan (carbon filter would be great too), let me know

And a side note, do I need a reflector for an LED light?

Internet went out the night I typed all of the above. Since typing it,I have received the Grow Tent and the LED Light. I'm loving the light. LEDs are truly beautiful. I've kept it on for 18 hours and kept a thermometer in there and it stays at an average of 78-82 degrees F. I just started germinating my seeds today and my soil should be here by tomorrow afternoon.

Still no fan or filter, I'm really hoping you guys can direct me to a cheap option for exhaust/intake.

Once the seeds germinate I am going to plant them about 1/4" into the Fox Farms soil and start with an 18/6 cycle. I've been contemplating creating a screen for a Scrog grow but I figured I'd get input first. If there are any thoughts or things to add/change, please let me know. I'll be updating this along the process and hopefully all goes well.

This is the LED I got from HTG. Half the panels went out in 5 weeks, This is my first time growing so I don't have much to compare it two, it has work well so far. HTC is sending a replacement has I speak so far good customer service. I don't think I would of purchased this one, I would of rather a 5w higer end instead of 3w for 30 to 40 percent more yield. Sounds like it pays itself off in the long run.

That sucks about your light :/ So far I've had no problems with mine. I topped Plant 1 yesterday and I'm hoping it'll be time relatively soon to make sure they are females and start flowering. I've never had to battle my patience like this

Yeah looking at it now, you're right, I should definitely be adding more grow than bloom still. They are all looking very healthy regardless so I guess it wasn't far off. Just playing the waiting game now.

Dont forget air intake down low. Also move the led down to around 12 inches they are 3 watt led chips so you can get it closer. I would also think about getting 4 2'florescent bulbs at 4100k and use them for side lighting on the walls hung vertical. that will help tons since the 3 watt led's dont have allot of penetration. the reason i say use the 4100 florescent is no heat and a friend uses them to grow really great buds.

My 2c.

I like your grow. I keep my led 2ft away from the top of my plants. I add Calmag throughout the grow because they seem to need it more with LEDs. 3w has plenty of penetration. Studies suggest 5w LEDs are less effective so don't worry about that. That little plant won't catchup on its own. Get some "overgrow" foliar spray and that will help it catchup.

LEDs are wonderful grow lights and I applaud you for joining the club.

Giving a young plant food when its already abundant won't un-stunt it. However, magnesium absorbs well topically so you could foliar feed with that if you see calmag deficiencies.
