If I have a target of 1000 ppms. Should I be adding my additives first then top off with my base nutes to get my target or should I be adding base then top off with additives... what I've been doing is add my Calmagic first, then adding half of my base nutes then half of my additives then check ppms if not at my target then add more base nutes to reach target.. now am I right or am I doing it wrong?

I think your attacking this from the wrong end.
Start with you base nutes, and work from there.
You don't want to just throw shit in there to reach a number. Watch the plant and it will tell you what your lacking in.
For every liter of water in your resivoir add 1.5 ml of base nutrient. for every ml of base nutrient you use add .5 ml of Cal mag, if your using R/o water. If not you may not need to add cal/mag. On top of that I would use .5 ml for ever ml of base nutrient you use.
That will give you a baseline to work from. Honestly this here ^ is enough for the plant to thrive, but to each their own.

See I'm in advance sunshine #4 with coco.. for week one I usually do half of everything including additives then the next week I go up 200 ppms with more base. So 1000 wk1, 1200 wk2, 1400 wk3 and 1600 wk4 then cut down after week 5

why dont you let your plants tell you how much nutrients it needs? Lets say, start at 500ppms. wait a day, measure the ppm of your reservoir. if the ppm level has gone down, then add more nutrients. if the PPM of your solution has gone up, you know that the plants have been uptaking more water than nutrients therefore you need to dilute your solution.

every plant is different, you can go by with what everyone tells you, or you can ask your plants how much they need and give them the best diet.

i just dump random amounts i grow by eye, you can tell what the plant needs some plants can only handle 800 ppm for a while ive had some monster eaters take upwards to 1800-1900 ppm constantly.
