AGE OLD QUESTION...

Im about to get my third grow going. Im planning on using Subcool's Super Soil. My plan is to start them out in Happy Frog soil in .3 gallon air pots. After about 2 to 2 1/2 weeks of veg I plan to transplant into 2 gallon (actually 1.2 gallons) air pots with Ocean Forest soil. After about 3 weeks I'll transplant into 5 gallon (actually 3.6 gallons) air pots. My grow tent will be 4x4 Secret Jardin and 750 watts of led lighting.
My question is, considering my situation how many plants should I grow with my setup? I don't wanna over crowd or put enough plants in to achieve maximum yield. Please experienced growers don't bite my head off for this question. Ive already read so many threads on this topic and still haven't come up with a decision. 5 weeks veg time to about 1 to 1 1/2 feet tall. I was thinking 6,8,9,12, or16 lol. How many riu please help me out. Btw this will be my first photo grow. The other two were autoflowers...

I'll be using the Solar Storm 880 which is actually is about 700 to 750 watts. As I mentioned I'll be vegging for 5 weeks. First two weeks in .3 gallon air pot and 3 weeks in 2 gallon air pots. Then transplanted into 5 gallon air pot all super soil. If I've missed something or you need to have more info please let me know. Btw I already have the Solar Storm 440. Its a very good light.

That sounds like LEDS. I like your taste in dirt, and pots, but I simply don't know enough about LEDS to give you a good enough answer.

Thanks anyway Pinworm for your assistance. Hopefully someone else will chime in and help me out. Do you use HID lighting?

considering your final pot is 5 gallon and your light is 750W I would do no more than 6 plants, but do some LST and you'll get badass results. I believe rule of tumb is about 100W per plant at a minimum. I have the 7 gallon airpots, I love them

sooo, .3 gals. to 2 gal. (actually 1.2 gal.) to 5 gal. (actually 3.6 gal.) with led lights, you're not gonna get a whole lot of canopy penetration. keeping that in mind, you prob. shouldn't veg to 1-1.5 feet tall (actually ??? feet tall) also, without hid lighting, you might want to think about just sticking with your ffof soil.

4-6 plants. But... I would think twice about using airpots for anything but the the final one. Unless you are going to pull apart the pot, I cant imagine how you would get the plant out of the smart pot without ruining it. Those airholes go inside the pot.

I agree with most others here. In 5 gal pots with ~750w, I'd stick to five plants. One in the centre, then four around that.

Yea I've heard 100 watts per plant as well. But I also heard 100 for the first plant then 50 to 75 for each additional plant. But I think I like the 100 watt per plant idea. As of yet Ive never tried lst but Ive googled it and you tubed it a million times so I think I'll give it a shot. Any recommendations bricksquad?

Yes I know leds do not have the canopy penetration as hid lighting. But to be honest I'm very scared of hid lighting. I just don't know what I'll do with all of that heat. So how tall do you think I should veg them to? And how do you handle your heat situation? As far as the super soil situation I've tried hydro (dwc), tried a soil grow and now really want to try this super soil. I've gotten better each grow but still made so many mistakes my second grow. If super soil doesn't work out well I'll go back to regular soil ffof.

Hey Growing dad I yes the air pots have a plastic screw on the side of them to open the pot. You unscrew it and basically unwrap it. Take the smaller pot of soil and place it into the bigger pot already filled with soil and go. Its very simple and even a noob, idiot like myself cant fuck it up. lol.

Yes Im thinking 4,5, or 6. Not quite sure yet. But two on top, two on bottom and one in middle sounds real good.

I like using zip ties, with the super air pots, you should be able to anchor to the pot. The idea is to open up your plant and get each branch into the light. I think you'll do great

I use LEDS in my own "super soil", I have the BML spyder 600, I have great penetration, you can always add side lighting if you really want. My plants love my LEDS
