A loosely packed joint will allow too much air thru the joint at ignition, resulting in too strong a fire, and a lot of heat and fire that will make you cough like fuck, and splutter ..resulting in you handing the joint to a buddy as you roll on the ground again coughing like fuck..gasping for air and will a badly burnt throat..

Likewise with the tight joint but the opposite ...these are the worst, as once they guy has rolled it, lit it(bad manners) hands it to you, you toke and get minimal smoke and minimal Hit! ...you immediately think "what a jerk .. I got nothing...what the fuck? " a thin joint indicates an unnecessary frugality and un cool action on the roller...dude we are here to get blazzed so where is the weed? ...the worst(IMHO) is the tight jerks often leaves the joint tip sopping wet wit their saliva ...that pisses me of!

Try and be someplace between the 2 extremes ...lol

Word, that is all accurate, but by tight rolling I specifically mean when the joint is loose and you use a dollar bill or similarly thin paper to hammock the joint and roll it back and forth in your fingers. This effectively renders a loose joint a bit tighter by folding the paper over on itself lengthwise down the body of the joint.

If you do it too much it ruins the joint and you get the latter of what vostok described above. But if you just do it a little it can cure what ails ya and make for a tight smoke. The paper starts to unfold a little when it burns down sometimes but thems the breaks.
