perilite or vermiculite as a medium

im thinking about building a ebb and flow system and dont have ant access to buy things online due to i dont have a credit card. so what i was woundering is if its possible for me to use either just perilite or vermiculite as a medium instead of clay pelets or rockwool cubes? there are also no hydro stores localy either. or if anyone has used any thing else that is fairly cheap that can be bought localy other than at a hydro store??

yea its tough for me with hydro shops as well. i would if you have to use an all perlite medium as ive seen multiple grows in this. But i grow in good soil and like it as its natural. i also mix my soil with perlite and vermiculite.

yea that was my very first grow, that one was done in soil. the only thing that im realy worried about is that i think the perilite and vermiculite will float when i do the flood.

floating could be a concern they are both extreamly light

small round garden pebbles.pebbles, maybe.
i dont think vacumate will do it but maybe perlite.
i think most garden centers sell the clay pebbles though.

i would grow in soil, plus the weeds tastes better.
use 1/4 perlite and 3/4 soil.
