are you blaming the soil for your mistakes?
No the john innes 1,2,3 are all outdoor soils so more mud clay like not loam peat like a lot of what is classed as indoor soils in the uk.

Seriously lame dude, outdoor soils are generally a lot heavier than indoors although i tried once (bag was well heavy to carry home) and with plenty of amendment it gives good results. Not sterilised though i think but would have to check this point.
Hope that clears it up for you!

What strains are you running?

Said heavy outdoor soil with minimal amendment worked just great for me ;-) and the folks who recommended it to me.

Outdoor soil for a plant from outdoors :-)

Right on but it means a bigger container size.

Any soil with the right conditions, i like how coco means you can go a lot smaller than soil in pot size.

Oh it did post my pic. Thats just under two weeks in a five inchpot with B&Q Verve seedling soil watered once when seed planted and once again just after a week of growth. One trick ive learnt with the watering of these soils is let them almost dry out or no oxygen get into the roots, almost to wilt then water. These soils hold lots of water even ehen they look dry and pot is light. Dryness is needed to shrink the peat and bark in there but watering is another subject just that it holds moisture well past the point you think its dry.

So yer no ferts in a five inch pot and voila about cool for ten days under couple flouros and fan, temps 19-22 humidity 40 to 60%.

Got the flourous about ten inches above top of plant but hope to get to six soon as t5's can be a bit strong and hot initially, cant use jifgy peat plugs as dry out twice a day and full time job keeping them moist.
I am also using Verve for a month but noticed this thread so late.
I'm not sure if they're the same (not living in UK) but let me translate what's writing on it (enriched with micro elements, special mix planting turf ) and the details (EC:1,5 ms/cm - PH : 5,5-6,5 - 1,25 kg NPK/cubic meter ''slow released'')
I began to use grow nutes after two weeks and really confused on watering.
I had many problems that I couldn't figure out but probably all the ones that you've mentioned.
After a month I get used to it,watering only once a week or sometimes more then a week and nutes in every other watering.
I'll transplant to their final pots this week and two weeks later flowering will begin.
Do I have to stop nutes for two or three weeks after the transplant ?
Now it's a kind of challange to finish my grow in that soil but in doubt if I will
