I don't think so. It was a leading medical story on the internet sometime earlier this week. That doesn't make it true, I know, but there are many viruses that spread through the air. What is so far-fetched about ebola mutating to a strain that survives in air long enough for a sneeze to infect an entire movie theater of people? Some viruses could do that.

Every time ebola copies itself (billions and billions of times every day), the copy is imperfect. So look at it like this: suppose every time the book "War and Peace" is printed, 100 words at random are changed randomly to 100 different words. Then the next time it's printed, 100 more. And so on and so on. How many printings would be required before the book didn't even resemble "War and Peace" any more?

Viruses make imperfect copies of themselves at a very high rate. Surely one of the possible (but improbable) outcomes is a mutation that can survive in the air for 5 seconds. And that's long enough.

Improbable? Yes. Impossible? No.

Don't drag me into this, I don't give a fuck if people say/post politically incorrect stuff or weird hypotheticals.

Some of the groups members were blatantly racist, it doesn't directly reflect on the others tho.

Ebola Reston is a strain of ebola virus discovered in 1989 to have infected Crab-eating Macaques held at a research lab in Reston, Virginia. Initially, they thought the virus was Simian hemorrhagic fever, however, it was soon discovered to be Ebola virus that had mutated and became capable of being transmitted through the air, as oppose to requiring fluid on fluid contact, like say HIV. Fortunately, the virus was only lethal to simians, and not lethal to humans.

Ebola is no joke, and if it mutates into something we can't readily control, like the common cold, it has the potential to become the "black death" of this millenia.

The strain of Ebola in America should be given a new name now with its new arrival. We should call it Obamola after the president who sent 300,000 troops to west Africa so that he can finally shoot the disease dead.... once and for all.
