Second try (first time with LED)...first time seemed great until they all were hermies!

Please peek at these bad boys (ak47 and white widow). I was scrogging them then after putting them into flowering (week 2 with this picture) they exploded in height...is this going to keep happening because they only got about 18 more inches left before they grow too tall. My God they are huge and leafy with dark green leaves even at the bottom of the plants.

Stretch phase is around 3 weeks. What are the dimensions of your screen? I counted 5 pots under the screen? I'd start laying the shoots down (the tallest ones, if there's not room to do all of them), use wire (or string) and hook (or tie) them above the screen until the stretch is done. Get them all going horizontal, if there's room. Then all your bud sites would be level. Might be too many plants to scrog under the size of that screen.

Yea, from the picture I was thinking maybe move the screen up a bit or get a larger one. Just lay your canopy under the screen and let it work its way back up again. Looks like you have your hands full! :weed:

Thank you co-friends of the Bud!

I have three five gallon pots with one per pot. I already bent the crap out of them scrogging and such but then last week BAM! Honestly the whole 4x4 screen is filled to capacity from doing this throughout the growth.

Are you saying, so I am clear on your instructions, to pull it off the plants and to lay it back down on them? I am so freaking scared like a baby to do that! The stems are so woody and stiff I can't even bend them much anymore without cracking them (which I did to two of the back big tops). Plus are you concerned about the buds because they are popping out too?

...I went and looked at them and if I tried to pull up on the scrog screen, I think it would tear and damage many of the plants and young buds....I hope this platinum ds 1200 LED light better fucking work to penetrate the canopy and produce some serious nuggets or I will bring the whole charade of LEDs down to the ground by writing a blazing, scathing review of their shortcomings...so far I am not excited and even feel buyer's remorse with it for a few reasons. If the buds are big and the plants produce amazing results it barely make it worth the money...barely. My electric costs from running it are noticeably higher because I have to keep the A/C on higher than it was for the location. It blows heat throughout the tent which isn't sucked out even when I put the blower on full power. I didn't have that issue using a "cool tube" on my 600 watt light...so far I cannot say I am enjoying the benefits of the pitches made from advertisers.

I swear in one day they grew two or three more inches! My mind is exploding! I am not lying or trying to embellish either. Dang, I hope I don't blow this one too...I threw out three of four huge plants with lots of big buds last time because they were all hermies, how I have no idea. They were White widow and even now, they are the only ones that don't look as good as the AK47s. Is there something up with that strain being harder to grow? Maybe they aren't for warm areas in the tropics???

I would leave the screen, and just give the tall ones a slight bend (lean) and hold with a hook with wire. So they don't reach the lights. Next time if you scrog, flip the lights sooner, so more than half of the screen needs filling. Because during stretch, 3 weeks after you flip the lights, you'll keep tucking branches. Goal is to time it right where the stretch ends, and the screen is full. Then your bud sites and the canopy are perfectly level. Then it's like watching the front lawn grow (so to speak)! That's why it's best to do just one strain. Get a couple grows under your belt of under-guessing, and over-doing it, then you'll know for sure when to flip. I know, boring to do just one strain, but you'll be a better scrogger for it! They look good!!:clap:

Thank you....how much more do you think they will grow in height (generally speaking) do you think they might grow in height? Also look at the stretching from the lower nodes which I don't recall my last grow doing as intensely as these are? I have about 14 more inches left in the tent not including the buffer zone. I have to admit I thought they wouldn't stretch that much with the use of an LED like mine, 11 band 800 watts at the plug type of equipment. I don't recall my HPS and that happening.... I'm even thinking of switching lights back....but the science side of me wants to see how this experiment will grow with supposed top of the line powerful grow lights. Please look at the girls and any thoughts are welcomed....

Oh! I forgot the tent is 82 degrees and there isn't a damn thing I can do outside of shoving an ac unit in the tent and that can't happen....That freaking LED....it better payoff in gold dollar buds. :hump:

Do you see any flowers yet? What are the dimensions of the squares in the screen, 2"? If it were me, I would take all of those outside smaller branches and carefully pull them through the screen and lay them flat underneath pointing towards the front, where the screen is empty. The more you can pull under right now, without breaking any, the better. That would get more bud-sites level with the screen. You probably won't be able to tuck those thicker branches, but can lean those at a 45 deg angle and tie to the top of the screen. The stretch should be almost done, IMO.

Hi Again...thank you for your nice messages...Yes the AK47s are showing a lot of hairs and the White Widow is also but not the same degree of "puffiness"....I am trying to tie down a couple of the tall ones that just popped-up tall near the center. When I went under the screen to work it did seem like a lot of light was getting through somewhat causing me issues with the lights in my eyes. SO you are informed in that it is normal for them to stretch like that? I will be so freaking happy if they work out right with no hermies.

I grow White Russian and it stretches 3x. First time I grew it I vegged for 30 days and by the end it was pushing 5', incredible! So may not be the light. I used a 600 with 8 t5's as side lighting.

Too much red too soon causes stretch, may be fine for Indicas, but not sats

I had the same experience with my BML SPYDR 600, which has no control for reds

My Amare Tech SS 260 does, as do all their panels.

I am only using the veg section and will only add the extra reds after buds set

Did you get some stretch though with blue? I was thinking of leaving blue light in during stretch. Had read the same thing before. Thoughts? I was thinking that the growth rate might be the same for the first 2-3 weeks in flower with the same color light you veg with, but maybe not.

You really have maybe brought up something very important that I noticed as well....part of the edge of the garden gets the low end of the spectrum and those that did, are shorter and definitely stretched less that those pockets where one can clearly see more IR hitting them.

You all are fantastic for your various comments...this website is better than Facebook and has a group of followers that seem to have higher IQs.

You want some red during veg to promote root development as well as some stretch.

The key is the balance of B v R
