Asking for permission to marry makes no sense. The only parties that should be involved are the parties engaging in the marriage, not some super daddy.

What if some of us wanted to drive on the left side of the street and others on the right. What if some wanted a red light to mean go faster , yellow light means stop, and green was up to you...what then
