Outdoor growing now?

Note: My questions may be very nooby so I apologize in advance... I live in the southeast part of the U.S. and I am interested in growing. I wanted to know if I could start growing now and harvest. I am considering buying 10 seeds of white widow auto feminized from sensei seeds. I chose this strand because it doesn't grow super tall (less suspicious) it takes less maintenance, and I read that this strand does better than most in cold conditions. Supposedly it would only take about 10 weeks from when I plant them to harvest them. But would it take longer because it's colder at this time and there is less sunlight? If it is possible to grow now, I will even if the yield is not as high. Any advice would be very helpful. I need to know what type of soil and fertilizer to use, how to prune, what to use to store it, how frequently to water the plant, protecting it from pests/cold weather, when to harvest, etc. I want to have some success my first time. Any advice would be helpful, I have lots to learn as you can see.

Hey buddy, I would give it a go as auto's should grow anytime anywhere, your yields won't be good because of lack of sun but if done right im sure you'll get something. Plus it'll be a good learning curve for when the time's right! As Monsieur Sunshine says you gotta read up...but a few pointers;

1) use 3gal or 11ltr fabric pots (any bigger is a waste).
2) DON'T overwater them! & water once a week.
3) Make sure your pH is right (get a meter etc).
4) if using soil dont add any nutes until at least wk 3 & then less than half the recommended dose.
5) I find the FloraSeries nutes to be excellent value.

Thanks for the advice man. One more question: What would you consider a small yield for this type of plant? I honestly would be satisfied if each one yielded 10g...

Im currently growing a few auto's outdoors you can check out on my blog & to be honest I too would be happy for 10g per plant! But I really can't say...seems 1 or 2oz is regarded as good so in winter time would be a fair bit less I imagine. Its important you choose a good yielding strain because some are better than other's...& grow more than one to increase output. I don't know about white widow but mazar & northern light seem good for yield...there's others as well of course so check em out online.

No expert but if you do it right and its a 10 week auto it can work. Do your research and ask questions and im sure you can get at least 10g a plant.

I started late with not prime circumstances for growing and as you said I would be happy with whatever I get. Plus its also experience.

With all those questions you asked, yor probably won't succeed with such a time crunch on your first time. You may finish but I think you shouldn't spend money on good genetics for this situation. Instead, go with some bagseed, it will perform just like an auto flower with the amount of light this time of year. Do your research over the winter and get ready for next season, I did the same thing my first grow and just ended up with nothing but nutrient and bug problems the whole time only to yield like 2 grams tops of some poop ridden weed. A little prep goes a long way.

If you really want to do it though, I would suggest getting some decent soil with time release nutes from the store, water only when dry and keep in a dry place away from harsh weather. A big issue new growers have is over doing everything, just keep it very simple and you may yield a bit of weed and worst case scenario, you learn something about the plant you didn't know before

Try and get something recommended for outdoors. I don't recommend outdoor growing in the SE (contrary to popular beliefs) till spring. Welcome to RIU.
