First Attempt.

So, this is my first attempt at growing. The seeds I got were just the ones that were in the bottom of the bag that I decided to try and grow. Also I should mention that I am going to be building an aeroponics system to grow this guy in. Hence the reason for being posted in Hydroponic/Aeroponics.

I started the seeds in a moist paper towel, covered with styrofoam plates, and those were placed inside a small green house.

1 week later I found that only one had sprouted.

next day.

2 days later.

So over all I am suprised as to how fast it is progressing.

Is there a way to tell what strain this is, or do I have to wait untill it is old enough to tell the differences.

your going to have to wait until its older so you can compare heights, and buds to different strains.

I want to try and do a time lapse of this attempt, does any one know a good free software that would help me do that?

Assuming you have a PC w/ webcam and are running Win XP then try Timershot found in the "XP Powertoys" app. Its available from MS and wont bog PC down at all:

Scoll to bottom of page for info about Timershot:

This PowerToy lets you take pictures at specified time intervals from a Webcam connected to your computer and save them to a location that you designate.

Just a quick update. The little guy is growing very quickly, it shot up 2 inches over the last day. So far I have not begun any nutes, and the only lighting has been indirect through the window.
( i know i know, I will being getting a HiD as soon as I can afford it.)

Ok, So I have been wondering what strain this is, but so far I can't tell the exact strain, but I do you think it would be safe to say that this guy is a sativa type? Considering its elongated appearance.

Ok, here is another update on my first attempt.

She is just reaching high into the sky. Is it normal for some cannibis to get so tall so young?

holy crap! hahaha thats a long little plant there. it looks like its trying to reach for some light. u should put it under a florecent light for veg. u dont really need an expensive HID for the veg stages. so get a florecent and put it about 2 inches away from the plant and move it up as the plant grows. this should slow the upward growth of the plant and encourage more leaf growth. good luck!

DO you have your fan on it? With a stem that long, once you go over its over. I will concur with prior posts light it needs more light.

Good luck

Ok, so after reading alot of feed back from some other posts I made about this little one, I decided it was time to transplant. I also placed a CFL with a Beer can reflector a few inches above it.

your plant is doing some hardcore STRETCHING

Yeah I am pretty new at growing, so I didn't know it was bad to have it stretching like that. So I buried most of the stem when I transplanted it. Good thing I did to, because when I got home the other night, it had fallen over, but it looks like it will pull through just fine.

I have a CFL about 2 inches above it with a beer can cut up to be a reflector.

So I have my fingers crossed that my first grow will produce. ( assuming it's female)

Update on the little one.

so, this is the starting of week 2. So far so good. Also as per the advice of some more experienced growers, I have stopped the nute regiment for now seeing as the little thing is too young.

Let me know how it is looking, feedback is good.

What kind of soil is that? looks like nothing more than shredded tree bark.

as far as strain goes, you will probably never know exactly what it is, but should not be too hard to figure out if its sativa or indica dominant once you put it into flower. Still looks like its stretching some.

SuperSoil Potting Soil
Here is what is in the soil:
Fir bark, redwood bark, sphagnum peat moss, sand, potassium nitrate, triple superphosphate, calcium nitrate, ureaform, ferrous sulfate, dried poultry waste, feather meal, alfalfa meal, kelp meal.

As far as the stretching, it acutally hasn't grown much taller since i put it in the pot, bear in mind that at the time it was probly still stretching for a few days after i transplanted it.

Right now the Light I have above it is about 2 inches away, and I am using a CFL 100 watt. Is that good enough?
