Watering Times

Is there any adverse effects to watering during different times of the Lights ON period?

My lights are set to be on from 12noon to 12midnite ( the time im awake ) so that i can best attend to them if needed. But when i work i don't get home until 11pm sometimes. Sometimes when i go to check them at that time, they need water. So after i finish watering i only have minutes until the lights go out for the night. If its my day off, they get fed a few hours after the lights turn on then, which is no big deal.

Just curious is there a certain time during lights on that one should water to maximize the use of the water, or does it not affect the plant to much if its watering during anytime.

As usual, there's no clear cut answer depending upon your growing situations(lets be honest, if the lights just came on and you see your girls limping, give them water), but the general consensus is to water during the hour before lights out, or the first hour of lights on if the other isn't possible. You could water during the day hours to keep your root mass cooler if you have severe heat problems, etc, but in most situations, its better to give water just before darkness.

My watering schedule for winter is very different to that of summer like you it can get difficult
give them a little water before work and a little water once you are back home
but understand plants don't drink at lights out, in the dark, the photo motor is off
having water sloshing around in a grow room in the dark is a sin, you will get a visit from the Pm angel
regardless, ensure you give them a really good drenching once a week, and allow to drain, as my
mentor advised in 1973 Marijuana don't like wet feet

I water according to my schedule which changes on a weekly basis so I've watered at all different times throughout this grow and I haven't noticed the plant respond any differently to a watering in the morning, before night, or even middle of the day. My thinking for not being to concerned with when to water is that in nature these plants don't get to choose when it rains so when it comes to indoors they aren't suddenly going to be picky about it. Not a very sciencey reason but it helps me justify not being able to water consistently lol.

i water when the lights go on. i have watered at other times, but i've never noticed anything that led me to believe there was an advantage to watering at a specific time. i don't ever water at lights out, i just don't...

At my place and most equatorial area it rains every day at 4pm
everyday except Saturdays some Fridays
the clouds build up after lunch,
hit the mountain and bang tons of water fall,
just great for all them sativas
most cars don't last 5 years
and tv's, radios and pc rot out too

Most cars don't last 5 years? When I was in S America I saw some 40+ year old Toyota land cruisers still working.

I try to water at or just before lights on, that way the plants have water when they are using it, during the light on period, and not just sitting in the dark feeling soggy, lol. no expert, just what works for me.

Schedule? Except... LOL :)

Weather has a prevailing pattern. However, there are times when drought or heavy rains are the normal.
Then there are times when hurricanes and extreme winds are expected.

Mother Nature is a bipolar bitch that can't make up her mind and ruins everything. I like her, I have respect for her, but I don't trust her.

Joe Walsh lyrics from the song "A life of Illusion"

Pow!
Right between the eyes
Oh, how nature loves her little surprises
Wow! It all seems so logical now
It's just one of her better disguises
And they come with no warning
Nature loves her little surprises
Continual crisis

If you're good with a soldering iron.... sometimes its just a few capacitors that need to be replaced. Caps are cheap! Good luck :)
