Indoor question. Can anyone here diagnose my ladies?

I've got 2 - Critical Kush and 1 - Afghan Kush, in soil. They're just over 2 weeks old. I've got them in Canna Terra soil and I have NOT used any nutes yet. The leaves are browning on the outer edges, a couple leaves look like they're "shrinking in", (maybe you'll see what I mean in the pics). And they just dont feel like pot leaf. They're not soft like a regular plant. They have a "tough" kind of feel to them. I thought the lowest set of leaves had the brown color from the hydroton pebbles but, each successive set appear to be browning on me. Any idea what the problem might be? Any suggestions/ideas/knowledge is greatly appreciated. Peace!!

I've been watering them lightly every other day, about a half gallon between the three plants. I have the ph regulated, going in at 6.0. I did a full saturation before I planted the seeds. The hydroton pebbles are new though. This is the first time I've used them. In fact, the first time I covered the soil. I also mixed some of the hydroton pebbles into the soil.

So, if I let the soil dry, they should start getting healthy again? I watched on of Jorge Cervante's videos on YouTube just before I planted my seeds and he recommended mixing them in with the soil. They help with absorption and dispersion.......And, I appreciate your help! I'll hold off on the H2O for awhile.

Hydroton needs to be rinsed pretty well, it has a fair amount of. Clay sediment.
I use just rock wool and hydroton.
my two flowering plants are in one container and I add maybe a gallon every other day, nutes every fourth watering.

I did rinse the hydroton before mixing in with the soil. I've also temporarily removed the top layer of pebbles in the containers until the plants have grown a bit more, ( and allowing any excess water to be absorbed/removed). I've also cut the water for the time being. AND........this definitely appears to be working. The newest growth is all a very nice, healthy looking shade of green, with no browning or curling of leaves. Thank you Dogenzengi, RM3 and Walter9999 for your excellent help and suggestions. I owe you all!!!!!! :)

So, things have gotten very much better with my ladies. Thanks again to you all for your help! And now, I have one more question to ask......Any idea what's going on with my Afghan Kush? I've not watered it since the day I started this thread. The pot, though not as heavy as it was, has still got some "weight" to lose before I do a good watering.....Or, perhaps not? I once grew an Afghan Kush Auto under CFL's that turned out quite good. This is the second time I've tried growing a regular, feminized Afghan Kush seed in a "proper" indoor growing environment. You can see the first sets of leaves have browned out and turned brittle. The newest growth looks to be healthy and green. As I mentioned....I've not watered her in 10 days. And I have not begun adding nutes to any of my ladies in this grow. Is Afghan Kush a bit more difficult to grow indoors, or am I screwing something up??

Water them man! There is an eb and flow to watering your plants. The goal is to let them dry just a little so the roots "stretch" for the last drop of water. Kind of like tearing your muscles to make them stronger. The first sign of the soil tightening up and pulling away form the side of the pot is when you need to water them. I must say by the looks of the picture they are getting to much nutrient of some sort. If you are using additional nutes, stop for a week or so. The only thing I ad when using soil for growing is a mychroizzle *spelling mix, like Ricks Monster Grow. You can find similar items in any decent garden store.

Or I could be dead wrong and they need more nutrients! Let us know whats in there please, best of luck!!!

Thanks for the input. Very much appreciated! I haven't used any nutrients yet.....Just water. I understand the concept you're explaining about watering, and I've never had this kind of a problem in the past. The other 2 plants look great. Over-watering at the beginning of the grow was the overall problem. It's just the Afghan Kush that wants to be stubborn. The soil in the pot it's planted in is still moist from bottom to top, (using the concept of knowing how heavy the pot feels when the soil is dry versus when it's wet. The pot hasn't "lost" very much weight). Again, the other 2 look great. So.......I think I'll try adding just a smidgen of some vegging nutrient to the afghan and see what happens.

Here are some pics of the other 2 ladies. You'll see the browning of the lower, first few set of leaves. That was due to over-watering. As the soil began to dry up properly, the new growth has been a very healthy and happy green! Thanks again Guy D!!

I would keep them without nutrients (personally) as long as you can. When the soil loses its natural content of nutrients you will again see the plant react. Only add the nutes after you notice the plants not "turning up" and getting happy after you water them. When that happens you know that your soil is nearly void of any nutrients. At that point I would transplant them and add fresh soil as opposed to adding nutrients. It may sound counter productive at first but you would risk several weeks trying to get the plants back to healthy if you over do the nutes. Some strains ive had take all the nutes I can give them and still others will reject all additives. I only use nutes during flower stages when I do soil. I used to treat them with additives at every possible stage but after time I realized it was a waisted effort in most cases in soil. If you must use nutes try looking up the "lucas formula" it is a very easy and mild method of adding while keeping them happy
